TOTAL ARCHITECTURAL AND BUILDING INTEGRATION!

GIELLENERGY-TILE® is photovoltaic roof tile, Marseille type, made in recyclable plastic
resin. That helps reduction of pollution using renewable energy resources (by solar energy),
contributing to sustainable development, reducing emissions of CO2, realizing fully architectural
and integrated solar roofs.
GIELLENERGY-TILE® could be combined with the most types of terracotta roof tiles. The
power is higher than the first generation of photovoltaic tiles, like illustrated below:

Nominal power of 1 GIELLENERGY-TILE® Ultra: 18,00 Wp

Nominal power of 1 GIELLENERGY-TILE® Standard: 9,00 Wp
m2 of Photovoltaic roof , necessary for 1 kW (0,99) system: 8,60 m2
N° of GIELLENERGY-TILE® or Ultra necessary for 1 m2: 13/6,5 Pcs.
N° of GIELLENERGY-TILE® or Ultra necessary for 1 KW (0.99) system: 110/55 Pcs.
N° of GIELLENERGY-TILE® or Ultra necessary for 3 KW (2.97) system: 330/165 Pcs.
®

the GIELLENERGY-TILE® & ULTRA is made of strong thermoplastic

resin, that can support mechanical stress and overheat exceeding
150°C. inside the thermoplastic frame is housed the PV module.

ARCHITECTURAL INTEGRATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

GIELLENERGY-TILE® is European regions, regarding

specially designed for installing new construction of buildings
on buildings in historic and or partly reconstructions,
special areas for its limited to impose and improve the
architectural impact. The installation of renewable energy
dimensions and shape of the systems, integrated or mounted
tile is identic to traditional on rooftops and facades, for
roof tiles and integration generating at least 50% of the
between other roof elements is perfect. At the energy needed for the build. These rules begin
same time the GIELLENERGY-TILE® are a to be obligatory and is not possible to obtain
building roof element, are generator of electric licence of building without such system. But in
energy, with high architectural quality. For many cases, like architectural places, old city
these reasons it’s considered a BIPV (Building centers or public buildings, is not possible to
Integrated Photovoltaics). The GIELLENERGY- install standard photovoltaic modules for their
TILE® is the first BIPV product in Italy which high architectonic impact of the surrounding
is certified IEC 61215 and IEC61730-2, from environment.. In this case the GIELLENERGY-
“Eurofins Laboratories”, Modulo Uno. In the TILE® is smart solution, because of its total
last years were made many new laws in many integration and excellent architectonic.

Easy installation and integration

Another excellent feature of GIELLENERGY-TILE® is the easy installation: the same of traditio-
nal terracotta rooftiles installation. It can be made by the same technicians who are mounting
the terracotta roof tiles (only for fixing the tiles, without cabling and other activities) and it is not
necessary to call special technicians. There isn’t need special structure on the roof, but it’s only
required the classic wooden battens of dimensions minimum 4x4 cm.

Wooden laths “support”

Wooden laths “ventilation”

So, for the proper installation, there isn’t need to use different supports and elements because
the PV tiles are fixed directly on the wooden battens and posed with the classic terracotta roof
tiles, which helps the final result of esthetic and architectonic view. Only a screw is needed , as
illustrated, for fixing each tile in three different points; this is very usefull, especially for the roofs
with more than 50% inclination or in areas with high winds.

GIELLENERGY-TILE® is matching perfectly with more of the Marseille type roof tiles (Standard
or Vario) existing on the market. On the picture is illustrated the rooftop ready, covered with
traditional terracotta tiles on the first row and also with middle row of ceramic rooftiles, in order
to facilitate the passing and maintenance.

facilitate the air flow and temperature exchange,

avoiding temperature peaks, which can decrease
the performance of the solar cells. In addition
on the solar roof are mounted some ventilation
roof tiles, available on the market, to help air
flow and Ventilation under the tiles in Direction
bottom-up of the roof.

SHADOWS- HOT SPOT EFFECT

It is known that only slight shadow over the standard module with area less than 10% could cost
a power lost of more than 50%. GIELLENERGY-TILE® is designed to avoid shadow, because the
PV part is inside the frame, without elevated and shadowing parts: shadows free! In addition, in
each GIELLENERGY-TILE® is inserted a by-pass diode, which excludes the tile from the system
(each tile) in case of problems, due to shadows of vegetation, other buildings, birds, chimneys,
which during the day could cause shadows.

HIGH MECHANICAL STRENGHT- REDUCED WEIGHT:

The GIELLENERGY-TILE® mechanical and weather resistance is significantly

higher than traditional terracotta tiles resistance for special material who it’s
made. At the same time the traditional “terracotta” tiles have more weight than
GIELLENERGY-TILE®. So the PV tile helps to obtain more mechanical strength
with lighter roof weight (more than 50%) and increase the energy efficiency class
of the building.

as it is able to resist uniform load on

a 5.400 N/m2 surface and Ø 25 mm
hailstones thrown at 83 km/h.

GIELLENERGY-TILE® is made in thermoplastic

resin at high mechanical and thermal characteristics
(yield strength bending 100 N/mm2 at 23° C).
The Tiles in thermoplastic self-extinguishing
material are available on demand
(in conformity with “UL 94 V0/V1”)

GIELLENERGY-TILE® can be produced, on

demand, in colors and tones almost identical to
those of the context where tiles will be installed: for
example in wildlife parks, fun fairs, playgrounds,
schools and public buildings or in other Country,
for example in Northern or Eastern Europe the
colour that could you find is ardesia, blue, ecc...

ECOSOSTAINABILITY

At the end of the life cycle all GIELLENERGY-TILE® will be ready to undergo 95%
recycling, after being separated from photovoltaic cells and electric cables, that
need dedicated treatment of differentiating. The result will be minimize the pro-
duction of polluting waste !
