1.

When creating a lesson plan what elements we need to incorporate so that

the lesson plan affects student learning?

A lesson plan that affects student learning includes the learning goal, the learning
objectives, the grade level, the types of technology used, the activities for the learning
objectives and the learning outcomes. The learning goal is basically the subject of the
lesson plan, so the teacher must make sure that the content of the lesson plan is linked to
the learning goal. The learning objectives is what the teacher is aiming at as the main
goals of the lesson. The learning objectives must be DIRECTLY LINKED to the learning
outcomes. The grade level needs to be included in a lesson plan to ensure that the lesson
fits the level of skills of the students. The types of technology used and the activities will
cover the pedagogical part of the lesson: what tools is the teacher going to use for
teaching the lesson? Finally, the learning outcomes are what the teacher is going to
evaluate using different assessments. Again, the learning outcomes NEED to match the
learning objectives.

2. What do you mean by TPACK and how can we include this model in our
teaching and learning?

TPACK means Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge. We include this

model by introducing more technology in our teaching. TPACK can be used in any
lessons as teachers can integrate technology (TK) while addressing the complex nature of
teaching (PCK). For example, if a science teacher wants to teach anatomy to its students.
The teacher could use the platform anatomy.tv improve the students learning as they will
virtually interact with the bones and muscles of the body. Even if the students use a
technology to help them learn the human body, the teacher needs to have good
knowledge about the subject matter to not give false information to their students, in this
case the human body. Finally, using this example, pedagogical know is how the teacher is
going to teach the subject. Pedagogical knowledge will include the lesson plan, classroom
management skills, and students’ assessments (theoretical quiz on the human body).

3. What role teachers can play to aware their students about fake news? What
are techniques or tips they can provide students in their classrooms?

Teachers have a big role to play to help the students recognize fake news and to have
better media literacy skills. One good technique is to use social media in classrooms.
Discuss the trending subjects that students are interested in. Explain to them what should
be taken as good information for that subject and what is likely to be false. Another good
way to improve their skills is to teach them to always check the from where the articles,
the videos or the images come from. Is it peer-reviewed? Is it a popular journal? Is it a
protected website or are there a lot of pop-ups? Those type of things tell a lot about the
validity of a website and that is what the students need to be taught be their teachers.
4. How can open source software help make learning easy and accessible
worldwide?

These types of software can facilitate learning because they make students practice new
technological tools. You never know when you will need to edit a picture, when you will
need to create a website or a poster and that is why these softwares can only be useful in
the long-run. If we take the example of Weebly, it is easy to say that this platform is
amazing. It develops website editing skills, while storing documents and anyone around
the world has access to it and admire the work you have done. In other words, using open
source softwares can only end up in a helpful experience because you can only discover
new tools about them. It is basically IMPOSSIBLE to know every single aspect of every
single open source software, so there is always learning involved.
