ABSTRACT

With increase in demand for electrical energy, there is a need to search for an
alternative source of power generation as the conventional sources of energy are started to
deplete. The solution for this problem is the concept of renewable energy source that includes
Solar, Wind, and Hydro etc. Renewable power sources can be used to power up AC or DC
loads, but the intermittency of the power generated by them create stability, reliability and
power quality problems. A hybrid combination of these renewable sources along with grid
ensures power supply stability, quality and reliability.

The present work involves the design and fabrication of a hybrid inverter with
multiple input power sources UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) system, which overcomes
the drawbacks of the conventional renewable energy systems. The Solar-Grid hybrid Power
system using solar panel with assistance of standby electrical input is used. The hybrid
inverter battery is charged using the energy generated from both these sources. SPV module
can generate power when radiation is available; on the other hand standby electrical energy is
available throughout. Hence uninterrupted power supply can be provided to the battery using
stand by electrical source when renewable sources are idle.

A portion of the energy requirement for a private house, farm house, a small
company, an educational institution or an apartment house depending on the need at the site
can be supplied with the electricity generated from this hybrid inverter. It reduces the
dependency on one single source and has increased the reliability
