Y2K XTEL compatibility

Despite our careful software design, and in order to prevent any inconvenience linked
to the Y2K transition, here are some useful information for the use of XTEL MOD and
XTEL CONTROL.Another important information is also included about PL7 MMI37
concerning the ALARM task which is no more selected after Y2K transition.

Malgré tout le soin apporté à la réalisation de nos logiciels et afin de prévenir certains
risques liés au passage de l’an 2000, vous trouverez ci-dessous les informations
nécessaires à l’utilisation de l’outil XTEL MOD et XTEL CONTROL, ainsi qu'une
information concernant PL7 MMI37 où la tâche alarme n'est plus sélectionnée après
le passage de l'an 2000.

XTEL MOD
The .M5M files which include modules and/or macro modules dated from year 2000

onwards cause a syntax error when used by PL7-3.
From year 2000 onwards, dates of modules and/or macros modules listed in . M5M files
are no longer coded in 2 digits but 3 (99 à 100, etc).
PL7-3 software does not handle 3 digits coded dates, so, when integrating source files
the message "syntax error" will show up, and integration does not take place.
The .M5M file can be edited with a text editor, in order to modify dates in the programm,
according to the following principle:
• A manual change consists in removing the "1" character standing for the century in
the date format.
• Character strings to be looked at are positioned at the end of lines and start by "--".

The computation of the day in the week may be wrong.

There is a shift of 3 days between the 1st of March 2000 and the 10th of December, 2000.
Every leap year, the same situation exists.
After performing a date and time changed by XTEL CONTROL , the day of the week,
if used in the application must be modified:
TSX 47/67/87/107 40 : Directly in SW57, (details in the PL7-3 reference manual,
section 6.2 "System words").
TSX17 with Real Time Clock in data mode through the function DATE.
A corrective patch can be obtained. Contact your Regional Sales Office.

The ALARM task is no more selected after Y2K transistion

After the operation "TABLE CREATION" (TABLE CREATION. menu or TRANSFER

menu by selecting TABLE CREATION) the selection of the ALARM task is no more done
automatically in the "TASKS SELECTION". It should be selected manually.If not, the
alarms files are not transferred into the PCM 37 cartridge.The alarms are no more
functional on the HMI.

When an application is generated after the Y2K transition, the year of the generation
date is coded in 3 digits (ex: 01/01/100), displayed in the application selection screen
of PL7 MMI.
This additional character causes the overwritting of the next field which corresponds
to the selection of the first task of the selection list (alarm task) which is seen as not
selected. At every generation the date is rewritten causing the unselection of the task.
This issue impact:
• Task selection which is at the top of the list of the selected tasks.
• The generation date of application which appears in the selection screen. According
to the screen resolution 10 or 100 can appear at the place of the year.
• In the first documentation page "Cover page" the date of last update appears in form
01/01/100•••B. The date indicated in the footer is correct.

Manual task selection after every generation of an application.
