EFW 1950-1965
These indexes attempt to extend Economic Freedom of
the World back to 1950 using a simplified eight variable
index ("EFW_New"). This index is then fitted to
overlapping values to make it directly comparable with
data found in the primary Economic Freedom of the
World data. Secondly, this was combined with
"backcasted" values of EFW to create the best single
estimate of economic freedom for a given country for a
given year ("EFW_FINAL"). For more details, see
