Good morning everyone. I’m Kaya and I’m from class 5B. Today, I’m going to talk about why it is important
to eat healthily.

Our bodies need to eat a balanced diet to be strong and healthy – if we don’t eat well then we can get sick.

We should eat fruit and vegetables every day because they give us vitamins and minerals. We should eat fruit
as a snack instead of chocolate, sweets and cakes.

We should also include grains and cereals such as pasta, rice and bread in our diet. These foods provide our
bodies with carbohydrates. Carbohydrates give us energy to do all the things every day.

Calcium makes our bones and teeth strong. You can get calcium from milk, yoghurt and cheese. Many
vegetables like broccoli, carrots and soya beans are very high in calcium.

Foods that have protein are meat, fish, eggs, grains and nuts. Protein is important for our growth.

Finally, we can eat sweets, chocolate and cakes but you shouldn’t eat them evey day because they have a lot of
sugar. Sugar can harm our teeth and bodies.

My typical lunch is a healthy balanced meal. I have vegetable soup to start, with a slice of bread. Then, I have
either fish or meat with vegetables and rice or potatoes. And for dessert, I have a yoghurt and a piece of fruit.
