Psychiatrist: I would like to ask you about your problem.

All Patients: I think I am suffering with depression but I don’t want to self diagnose so I went to
you.
Psychiatrist: Okay. Let me ask you multiple questions as we go through but let’s start with a first
experience. I would like to know when you started feeling extremely sad or very hurt.
Patient 1: I first experienced it when I felt unloved by my family. I nearly broke my family apart
because of multiple things that have happened.
Patient 2: I first felt extremely sad when everyone in my school started to laugh at me and
bullied me because of lies and rumors spreading everywhere.
Patient 3: I first felt depressed when I got bullied online by an anonymous account. The person
was spreading so much hate. They kept targeting me. I felt so much hurt and pain.
Patient 4: I first experienced extreme sadness when my family broke apart and I started to live
without my mother and other siblings. All I had left was my dog and father. My father was
abusive and when he sold our dog, I felt extremely sad because I had nothing else left. I had no
friends, no caring family, and no one else to talk my problems with.
Patient 5: The first time I ever felt very sad was when my parents shouted at me for not being a
good child to them. They said that they were embarrassed because of me. At that point, I didn’t
want to live anymore. They were too harsh to me.

Patient 6: I first felt depressed when my parents were abusing drugs and alcohol. They started
abusing me, too. I get bullied in high school because of my parents. Everyone laughs at me and
abuses me, just like my parents.
Psychiatrist: Okay. I see here in the form that you just took that you have had suicidal thoughts
before. I would like to ask you if this is actually true.
All Patients: Yes Doc. That is right.
Psychiatrist: I see. -checks the form more-
Patient 1: I really can’t explain everything properly Doc. The-there are~
Patient 2: So much factors that affect my life negatively…
Patient 3: I- I just feel very… very…
Patient 4: Empty… and lonely...
Patient 5: I don’t feel anymore happiness… none at all…
Patient 6: Sometimes… I just want it to end...
All Patients: I want it all to end now… I want to scream and attack and just sob for hours and
hours... because everyone...
Patient 1: Hates…
Patient 2: Lies about...
Patient 3: Despises....
Patient 4: Left…
Patient 5: Is embarrassed of…
Patient 6: Abuses…
All Patients: Me… I need your help, Doc…
Psychiatrist: -in her mind-
Wow, this is really hard. Depression is so common these days. Even if it’s minor and not major,
it still matters. I will not give up on them.
All Patients: Doc, I've been meaning to ask you about what I should do.
Psychiatrist: Don’t give up. Keep going. I will try my best to help you. I will recommend multiple
things to you but first, I want you to remember that I will be here for you. We will fight this together.
You can always approach me. I will listen and I will help you. I will always be here for you.
