Objectives: - to practise the vocabulary related to rooms in the house and furniture
- to read for specific information
- to listen for specific information
- to match pictures with words
Assumptions: students may find it difficult the pronunciation of some words and they
may pronounce them wrong in the first place.

Attending strategies: - Teacher’s role: conductor, establishes contexts, conveys
meaning, checks understanding, consolidates rules, gives

Activity 1 ( estimated time 5 minutes)

Specific objective:3.3
Context: checking homework.
Activity/class organization: whole-class activity. Ss read the exercise aloud for the whole
class to check the answers.
Aids: workbooks.
Language: all and any.
Possible problems: Ss may not have written the answers correctly, in which case they
have to correct them.

Activity 2 ( estimated time 8 minutes)


General Objective: 1
Specific objective: 1.1
Context: asking about their house
Activity/ class organization: whole-class activity.
The Teacher asks the students some questions related to their house and namely: if they
live in a flat or in a house, if their house or flat is big or small, how many rooms are there
in the house. Then she tells them that they are going to listen to a song they have already
studied before and after that they will sing it together.
Aids: computer, CD.
Language: all and any
Possible problems: the Ss may have problems in expressing themselves correctly.

Activity 3 (estimated time 10 minutes)


General Objective: 1
Specific objective: 1.2
Context : presenting the house and the things in the house
Activity/ class organization: whole-class activity.
The Teacher tells the students that they are going to watch to a Power Point Presentation,
in which she will describe the rooms in the house and also things in the house. She will
ask them to write the new words in their notebooks. After each slide presenting a room in
the house, the teacher asks the students to pronounce the words together.
Aids: blackboard, notebooks, Power Point Presentation.
Language: The house
Possible problems: the students may have problems in understanding the tasks that the
teacher gives to them. The teacher acts as a prompter and encourages Ss to participate.

Activity 4 (estimated time 12 minutes)

Context : vocabulary practice
Activity/ class organization: pair activity.

First the Teacher draws a house on the blackboard and shares the space into four rooms.
Then she gives the Students some worksheets, asks them to match the pictures with the
words from the box and tells them to go to the blackboard and stick on the blackboard the
correct word in the corresponding room drawn by the teacher. Students write down the
words in their worksheets.
Aids: blackboard, worksheets.
Language: furniture
Possible problems: The students may have problems with the pronunciation of the words.
The teacher acts as a prompter and encourages the Ss to participate.

Activity 5( estimated time 5 minutes)

Context: fill in exercise
Activity/ class organization: individual.
The teacher asks the students to look on their worksheet and also at the image presented
by the video projector and then she asks them to fill in with the words from the box in the
missing spaces. Students go to the blackboard and write the missing words.
Aids: Worksheet, blackboard, video projector
Language: all and any
Possible problems: Some Ss may have problems in understanding the text. In this case,
the teacher acts as a prompter.

Activity 7– Feed back ( estimated time 8 minutes)

Specific objective: 3.2
Context: practising activities in the house;
Activity/ class organization: pair-work
The teacher tells the students to match the verbs from the first column with the activities
from the second one. Then she tells them that they are going to build sentences using the
phrases and telling where those activities take place. Students match the verbs with the
activities and then they read the answers aloud.
Aids: the worksheets, the blackboard.
Language: all and any
Possible problems: Students may find it difficult to make up sentences. In this case, the
teacher encourages them and acts as a prompter.

Activity 8 ( estimated time 2 minutes)


Homework : The students are asked to do describe their room.
