I began this class as a way to earn both high school and college credits, it was

my first college class and also my first online class. I learned a lot about myself as a

writer during this online course. I worked harder on the essays and used new tactics to

come up with ideas. I did not know much about the clustering and brainstorming tactics

to come up with my ideas, but during this class I began to use them. Throughout the

course of this english class, I have learned that I am capable of good college work, I just

need to work harder to fix my mistakes and improve my writing.

There were a few challenges I faced during this class. The hardest challenge for

me was getting the MLA works cited correct in my Annotated Bibliography essay and

my Research Argument essay. Another struggle was coming up with topics for some of

the essays, such as the Annotated Bibliography, the Educational History Essay, and the

Evaluation Essay. Although there were challenges, there were parts of the course that I

really liked. The part I liked the best was the peer editing, my peers gave me great

insight on each of my essays. I also really liked the prewriting assignments, they

prepared me for my topic and my rough draft.

The process I went through with each paper improved as I went through this

class. At the beginning of the course, I wasn’t sure about the prewriting assignments

and the peer editing, but these views quickly changed. After completing the first

prewriting assignment, I realized how much it helped me prepare my topic for the essay.

I used the peer feedback to fix my mistakes in between my rough and final drafts. I also

used the teacher feedback that was given after the paper was graded to learn from my

mistakes in order to make my future essays better. The essay that was the most difficult

to start was the Educational History Essay, it was difficult to think of a time where I was
impacted in school. To improve my essays, I used both the peer feedback and the

teacher feedback.

I was surprised about how the course worked, because I have never taken a

college class or an online class, I was a little nervous. I was very surprised at how easy

it was to navigate and understand the online course. I was also surprised about how

helpful the peer edits were in order to improve my essays. I hope to take away the new

skills I have learned from this class to other college courses. I plan to take more college

classes and use these skills in my future essays. I also plan to take these skills into my

professional life when the time comes. No matter what kind of professional career I

decide to pursue, the skills I have learned in this course will be extremely helpful. This

class has surprised me and helped me prepare for my future, both short term and long

term.
