Lesson Outline:

Duration Step Activity

5 minutes Review Ask students to share what
we have learned about how
to communicate, research,
and learn. Write down and
illustrate examples the
students share.

10 minutes Introduction lesson/new Ask students to share ideas

material about other ways they
believe people
communicate, research, and
learn. Ask students whether
they think people use the
telephone or a computer to
learn. Then introduce the
concept of the internet to
students and describe and
show them how people
access and use the internet
to communicate, research,
and learn.
30 minutes Guided practice For the guided practice, my
co-teacher and I will break
our students into two
groups to work with them
on a mini research project
involving the internet. The
project is simple. My co-
teacher and I want to find a
game we can play with our
students to help them
practice their alphabet
sounds. We plan to show
our students how we
conduct the research and
how quickly we can find the
resource. Then we will allow
each of our students to play
the game for about 2
minutes.
15 minutes Independent practice Students will use their
writing and drawing to
define the internet and
demonstrate how people
can access and use the
internet.
5 minutes Closing Ask students to share what
they have learned using
what they illustrated or
wrote during the
independent practice
