Topic: Greetings

Content Standard: By the end of 6 year primary schooling, pupils will be able to
demonstrate understanding of a variety of linear and non-

linear texts

Learning Standards: 2.2.1 Able to read and apply word recognition and attack

skills by :

2.2.2 Able to read and understand phrases in linear and

non linear texts.

Objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

1. pronounce and blend words with the phonemes /oo/ correctly


2. sing a song with correct pronunciation
3. rearrange the sentence strips
4. find words in the word chain

Time : 60 minutes

Teaching aids: picture cards, flip cards, sentence strips, word chain, mah-jong
paper.

Strategies
1. Show pictures related to Recalling, questioning Picture cards
greetings. Ask questions.
2. Point out the phonemes Phonics Word list:
for the grapheme /oo/ (pronunciation) Good morning
from the words. Pupils Good afternoon
say aloud the phonemes Good evening

3. Put up flip cards. Pupils Identifying and Flip cards
identify words and reading
pictures.
4. Display the lyrics of a Practice Appendix 1 :
