Materials used in Portable Coffee dryer

Two light bulbs which are placed in the portable drying machine so that there will be light in the dark
and at the same time heat up the coffee bean, ensuring the beans to be dried for 24 hours. These are
called HALOGEN light bulbs which use a lower watt, thus saving electricity and generating heat
efficiently.

-Handle at the sides: For portability and convenience’s sake. Farmers can carry it around anywhere
easily.

-UV transparent plastic cover : Distribute the heat evenly and protect the coffee beans from the
radiation. It is also transparent and cut at the sides to allow more light to pass through. Also waterproof
so villagers do not have to worry about the rain affecting it.

-Bottom ALUMINIUM legs : Although it rusts easily, it serves the purpose of being a strong stand as it
has the ultimate tensile strength among other materials. Most importantly, it is cheap and easily
accessible.

-Aluminium and Styrofoam: Aluminium and Styrofoam works hand in hand through the principle of
double insulation. Aluminium being a good conductor of heat will heat will be transferred easily from
the HALOGEN light bulbs to the covers and the segmentation. However, it is unable to trap heat hence
this is where Styrofoam comes in. Styrofoam traps heat well and is waterproof so it works well with
aluminium, providing double insulation.

In summary, the portable coffee drying machine has 3 defining points – It is waterproof, it is sturdy and
it is practical.

EVERY small part of the machine is made from waterproof material.

The machine is supported by 5 legs, one at each corner and one at the middle to minimize the degree of
freedom, making it sturdy.

It is practical because it is easily carried around and has lights to be used in the dark. Most importantly,
it also serves its purpose of drying the coffee beans evenly, allowing easy flipping to dry both sides of
the beans.
