BTS transports Jumbo
BTS is a professional and flexible company with more than 20 years’ experience in the field of
maritime service. By ongoing investment in people and material, BTS anticipate rapidly the

Efficient and safe
BTS is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Our Head Office and wharf are situated directly at
the 15 metre-deep water of the “Nieuwe Waterweg”
at Schiedam, at the centre of the Rotterdam port
area. From this favourable location with our own
transhipment quay, BTS operates entirely indepen-
dently as a subsidiary of the lifting and transport
specialist Mammoet. This connection ensures much
synergy between both companies.
BTS monitor the high quality level of equipment as
a component of the extensive quality programme
QSE (Quality Safety & Environment). This program-
me not only guarantees the security of people,
cargo and equipment, but also pays much attention
to working in an environment-conscious way.
Activities
With our modern, well-equipped fleet and professio-
nal and experienced employees we conduct the fol-
lowing main activities:
BTS recently carried out a transport of the largest-ever passenger aircraft in history, a Boeing
747. Three pontoons, three tugs, and 18 axlelines of Self Propelled Modular Transporters were
used to transport the aircraft from Amsterdam Airport to the national aviation museum in
Lelystad. The first leg of the journey, over water, brought the aircraft from Amsterdam Airport
to the “Nieuwe Meer” waterway on Amsterdam’s boundaries. Although the journey involved
complex logistics – and a large number of bridges along the route – the transport was never-
theless completed without problems. The Jumbo jet continued its journey to Harderwijk over
Amsterdam’s het IJ waterway and the lakes between the former coast and the new polders.
Heavy transport and lifting activities
We manage heavy transport over water with our
pontoons and push/pull tugs. When shipping
heavy and high-volume cargoes, we take care of
the complete logistical chain for our customers.
With our floating derricks and crane pontoon(s) we
can carry out a large diversity of lifting activities on
water.
Salvage
Over the years we have acquired an excellent
reputation in salvaging. Since BTS was founded,
we have already salvaged a considerable number
of submerged objects and ships, to the satisfaction
of our clients.
Civil projects
We are specialized in undertaking civil projects
where we can offer a total package to our various
clients. For the implementation of these projects
we have at our disposal pontoons, crane ships and
an enormous stock of auxiliary equipment such as,
for example, support beams, blockings, winches,
jacks, skid tracks, pumps, etc. The total package
of services in which a complete scheme includes
all engineering required, and is conducted by
experienced project managers.
