Effect of social media on our life

There are many things in our lives that keep affecting our lives in both negative and positive ways, even

though it might seem that the downsides are more than the upsides but it always depends on the human

way of using this thing for example internet can be useful when used correctly not for cheating or wasting

time. This report discusses the impact of social media on our lives from both negative and positive

perspective.

To begin with, anything we need to know what is it and what it covers; social media is the collection of

online channels used for communication purposes and for sharing like Facebook, twitter, others. Due to the

improvement of technology and people giving online presence more importance and significance, it

becomes almost unavoidable to be active on social media because everything is moving that way due to the

technological era as we know, and the world is becoming smaller as well. Many things have given the

social media big impact and involvement if our day to day lies and most importantly the enhancement of

mobile phones that basically gives social media superior attention. (Gaitho, 2015)

People spend most of their time on their phones and on social media applications which makes them

affected by what's posted and such, so one of the impacts is on society, we have to say that it has enhanced

the way people share their concern on social issues and problems but it may not affect or do a real change

on people where the maximum they do is press “like” but it has improved the ability to share and to spread

the word regarding "social and ethical issues”, as well as the effects that social Maeda has is the effect on

politics; there are studies research shows that almost 62% of people get the news and become updated with

using social media and it’s also used in campaigns. The effects are uncountable because social media is un

separable part of the human’s life now so it affects almost everything including “privacy, Personal

Relationships, moral challenges, and work”. (Gaitho, 2015)

It has affected working opportunities where influencers started to support it because it's profitable to know

on social media with many followers and become used for advertising and such and it pays better than any

normal job, and not to mention the effect on advertising and it started to be taught in marketing classes and

a new method for that.

As for the impacts that are seen to be negative on the human life includes many things such as it’s effect on

privacy, cyber bullying and personal relationship, as we all know every has two sides and depending on the

use you may reach the conclusion but social media can be easily mixed up between pros and cons, as for

the effect of privacy, it made people live not private at all but it depends on the posts of the people and

what they choose to share, it has made personal relationships better because it assets people from different

places to communicate and to be closer with no effort, other things include cyber bullying where harmful

people choose to hurt others through hacking and such. (Gaitho, 2015)

While social media activism brings an increased awareness of societal issues, questions remain as to

whether this awareness is translating into real change. Some argue that social sharing has encouraged

people to use computers and mobile phones to express their concerns on social issues without actually

having to engage actively with campaigns in real life. Their support is limited to pressing the ‘Like’ button

or sharing content. (Zhukova, 2018)

At the end anything in this life has pros and cons use it correctly and you will experience the upsides, but

making social media and thinking about others opinion and giving posting and such big attention is not

useful and will not help you to improve in your life.
