Just as the Internet is rapidly transforming traditional industries, video and cloud services are driving networks
to evolve to a DC-centric ultra-broadband architecture. DC-centric networks are being constructed wherever Simplified O&M
data centers (DCs) need to be interconnected. Making O&M as simple and efficient as possible is a basic requirement for ISPs without large-scale

A network with large bandwidth and ASON protection, bearing customer services with high quality
and reliability
The constructed WDM 1 Tbit/s north-south backbone network complements Huawei's OSN 9800 platform,
whose 80 x 100G bandwidth meets ISP bandwidth demands.
Existing aggregation devices are reused, protecting investment. New services are directly transmitted to the
new network.
ASON protection is a Huawei WDM advance feature. It protects the network against multiple fiber cuts and
United Information Highway Co., Ltd. is a premium ISP in Thailand. Its
improves network reliability and stability. ASON currently holds over 90% market share.
60,000 km of optical fiber resources cover 77 Thai cities and extend

What Is WDM?
What Is Microwave?
Abbreviations

What Is WDM?
The WDM technology lets a fiber carry over 80 wavelengths at the same time. This 10 to
100-fold increase in transmission capacity helps save a lot of fiber resources. WDM also
makes low-cost and ultra-long-haul transmission possible. The WDM system uses
advanced coding technologies and error correction algorithms to transmit services over
thousands of kilometers without regeneration, greatly reducing transmission costs.
What Is Microwave?
Microwaves are electromagnetic waves ranging from 0.3 GHz to 300 GHz in frequency.
Microwave communication uses microwaves to carry information through electromag-
netic fields. Compared with optical fiber communication, microwave communication is
cheaper to construct, more adaptable to complex terrains, and faster to deploy. It is
widely used for base station backhaul, video surveillance backhaul, home broadband,
and enterprise private line.
