Accessing your Digital Workspace

Expectations: When assigned Virtual Desktops we expect them to be used on a consistent


basis. At a minimum, the virtual platform will need to be used at least once every 30 days or
automated reclamation processes will remove the user’s access to the Virtual Desktop. It must
be noted once the VM has been Archived it will not be restored any data not stored properly
(Libraries/Documents) will not be accessible if a new VM needs to be assigned.

Associates: We would encourage you to make the transition to use the virtual desktop as
their primary day to day machine if possible. It will change how you work in a positive way. It
will enable you to work from any device on any network and remove the need to be tethered to
a specific physical device. Keeping in mind EDLC this is a resource that is intended to be used as
your day to day operational platform.

Horizon View Client Installation
1a. For Walmart Managed PCs and Laptops:

 Launch Software Center on your local Laptop/PC


 Search for and install Horizon View Client as indicated:

1b. For Non-Walmart Managed PCs, Macs, and Laptops

 Download and Install the latest Horizon View Client to your local laptop (not from inside
a Virtual Desktop). Choose the link below that fits your Operating System:

Windows
Mac
Linux 32bit
Linux 64bit

 If you do not have administrative privileges on your computer, you may need to get this installed by your
system administrator/support team of your vendor company.
 The client is also available for Android and iOS (Apple) mobile/tablet devices in the App Store or Google Play.
Search for Horizon View Client.
 If installing on Windows 10, use the "Windows" Client install, not the Windows 10 UWP Client install, for the
best experience.

3. Logging in to Workspace One Portal

 Once the installation is complete, open a browser and navigate to


https://workspace.wal-mart.com. With two-factor authentication, the logon is a 3-
screen process.

 The first is to enter your user name.

 Two-Factor Authentication: Authentication can be YubiKey (or Google Authenticator) or
RSA Token.
o For YubiKey, press & hold the gold button
o For Google Authenticator, enter the 6-digit code from the app
o For RSA Token, enter the PIN+TokenCode.
 The Token Code is the 6-digit code shown on the physical token
 Note, if you haven’t set a PIN yet, just enter the Token Code

Once you are past the 2-factor authentication, you will be prompted for your domain password.
(Password Issues see page 9 for reset instructions)

Once logged in, click on the Desktop icon to access your new virtual desktop.

 If prompted, launch your desktop with either the Browser or the Client. If launching in the
browser, use Google Chrome to access DWS for best browser-based performance.

Firewall Requirements:
Some remote locations will require firewall changes to allow connectivity to the new
environment.

Should you experience a blank black screen or are otherwise unable to connect to the new
environment please check with your local firewall team to ensure the following ports are
allowed.

Installing Software:

To install software, please use “Software Center”.

Open Software Center by going to:

Windows 7 Windows 10

If an application is missing from Software Center, please contact the VDI Help Desk to create a
ticket to have that Software Application imported.

VDI Help Desk contact info 479.273.8866, say “VDI” at voice prompt.

Note: EDLP (Enterprise DownLoad Page) is not available on Digital WorkSpace virtual desktops.
