Aim of Activity: To interact and help people to live a respectful life, do the
regular chores, clean the surroundings and place and provide them with a
neat and helpful environment. And also teach children about their
academic studies.
Beneficiaries of Activity from Village: We got to interact with villagers and got to
know about their lives and problems. It gave us a feeling of pride in
undertaking such an activity where we could give our contribution for those
people who are actually in need of support. A small step towards
community actually made us feel as responsible humans in the society. We
took the task of cleaning out the surroundings for the villagers. Although
there are sweepers there, we thought it would be great idea to give them
a rest for few days and carried out the cleaning tasks ourselves. A novel
experience.
Difficulties encountered while carrying out activity: It was a bit difficult task to
clean out whole village but we succeeded. Also while interacting with them
we made sure that we take care of our polite behaviour and language. It
was difficult to talk with them in Gujarati but we also succeeded in that.
Impact of Activity for Societal Benefit: After the session was completed we were
extremely happy to get to know the positive results. All the people were so
cheered up that they wished that we would come back more often. The
sweepers thanked us heartily for reducing their load. Also children are
happy to learn new topics which are not in regular study. Those words were
our real prize.
Concluding Remarks: Overall, it was a very heart-warming experience for all of
us. I would like our faculties to encourage more and more such activities.
This creates a feeling of responsible humans within us. Such sessions
regenerate love and kindness within people in the society and help us share
the work-load of people. We thank Nirma University to give students this
wonderful opportunity.
