Universal Design for Learning (UDL): I wrote out a transcript for students who cannot hear or are hard of
hearing. For students who are deaf or hard of hearing, the BrainPop video has subtitles or a transcript for
them to follow along.
Lesson idea implementation: This is a flipped classroom activity. The children will listen to my audio file and
then do what it says. It says watch the BrainPop video and then write down their favorite winter holiday and
why. They will bring their answer into the next class.
This allows the students to be introduced to the topic before meeting in class. This way, they already know
some things about the topic and I won't have to teach the introductory information to the students. This is
the way the lesson is introduced. The video is pretty short and the answer is a simple question. This lesson
should not take the students more than 10 minutes.
Importance of technology: This lesson could not be completed without technology. Sure they could just
answer the question but they wouldn't be able to view the video. The blog is useful because the students can
just view their assignments there and wouldn't have to worry about having a piece of paper with it written
down on. It also saves the trees because I don't have to put my instructions on paper. The children can also
listen to the audio file as many times as they need in case they missed something or didn't understand it the
first time around.
Inspiration (optional): N/A

Internet Safety and Student Privacy: I would minimize the risks to myself by making sure that the websites I
used with my students didn't have an age restriction. I would minimize the risks to the students by not
allowing them to post anything on the blog or class website that included their full name, address, email,
school, or age. I would alleviate fears of parents/administrators by making sure they knew I took the student's
safety seriously. I would have the parents okay the websites I would use in class.
Reflective Practice: I think that this activity is a great, easy way for the students to learn about winter
holidays. It is also a great way to introduce the students to a flipped classroom model. To further extend this
project I would have the students draw about picture about their favorite winter holiday.
