Universal Design for Learning (UDL):


Engagement: The students are required to create a video about the minerals they been assigned. Students
will be broken up into teams, but not exceeding 4 people to a team. Each student will participate in the
creation of the movie.
Representation: Students will create a video about the minerals they have been given / chosen. The video will
be represented by a title page, still images, short clip, more images and an end page with a credit screen
Action and Expression:
The only guidelines for creating the video are for students to use all the features listed above. The script and
creation of the video can be any form that the student(s) want it to be. The use of music, audio and even the
recording they recorded can be included in the video
Lesson idea implementation:
I start the lesson by telling the students that the class will be learning about minerals over the next 2 weeks.
After a couple classes of introducing the minerals topic, then I will introduce the project, I will display my
example video of what they about to be work on as group project. As the video playing, I will ask the students
to pay attention. After the video is done, I will answer all questions that students have come up about the
video. I will pass out the rubric then explain to the students that they will be creating a video with their group
about the minerals they chosen.

Importance of technology:
The use of this software is to give students complete control let them create a video for / by their own. The
purpose of using a software that gives students complete control to show their knowledge. Learning to use
the software, along with combination with educational material, this will raise their critical thinking level and
the LoTi level to the highest.
Internet Safety and Student Privacy:
Having students create their own videos, there will be a risk of the internet safety. This means students
identity and their personal information may be used by third party. On top of that, I will also have to explain
copyrights and how they can affect students if they failed to follow the process. To minimize this risk, I will
stress the importance of giving credit to the source where information was found. Because these sources may
not create by the student, they must always give credit. Students will not give out any personal information to
any sites or third party. The project will only use software that are approved by the teacher, school which do
not ask for personal information to be given. The use of personal emails or information about the student will
not be allowed. I will give the students a copy of the internet safety rules and a list of different sources for
them to use in their project.
Reflective Practice:
I feel this project will keep the students to show their knowledge by creating a presentation/video. Not only
students be creating their own work, also they will be interacting with the information. Students will be using
the new information to create their own work also using this information as support. This will allow students
to become aware of what it for doing a research and technology to create a final product using that
information. After the students finish and presenting their video, I will post each video to our class blog with
their information redacted. This will allow the students to go back and review their videos. This video project
will be used to reinforce the material presented in class.
