Barranquilla is
celebrated, a very
colorful carnival where
you can see a lot of
diversity and many
exotic colors and
dances. The
Barranquilla Carnival
is the most important
folkloric and cultural
festival in Colombia.
Each year, this
Caribbean city
becomes the setting
for encounters of
folkloric, dance and
musical expressions
that unleash the joy of
their own and visitors.

This celebration brings

together emblematic
expressions of the
memory and identity
of the people of
Barranquilla, the
Colombian Caribbean
and the Rio Grande de
La Magdalena.

Its mixture of cultures

that sustain what we
are as a nation, its
capacity for social
mobilization that
 overcomes all kinds of
differences and its
power to bring it
together is at the
heart of people who
make diversity a
reason for celebration
and celebration that
encourages art
popular and keeps our
past alive.

Where and It is an annual

place in Barranquilla
celebrated. four days before the
Ash Wednesday of
each year.
According to the
calendar of the
festivities, on January
20 the Reading of El
Bando is scheduled to
be held from the Plaza
de la Paz, with
alternate events on
the La Magdalena
neighborhood court.

the Par Road of the
race 50, in the
boulevard of the race
54, and the closing
will be in the race 54.

when Barranquilla is
the epicenter of the
Central American and

occasion and dress as
marimondas and
typical characters of
the region.

During the Carnival of

Barranquilla, the
custom of wearing
masks or disguising
oneself is a well
established and widely
used tradition. It is
common to see adults
and children on the
streets carrying not
only carnival
characters such as the
marimonda and the
monocuco, or dances
and comparsas such
as the garabato and
the congo, but also
characters disguised
as different scenarios
such as soccer
players, presidents,
singers, actors, among
others, and even
characters of the daily
life of the place like
the one of the
palenqueras and the
one of the crazy ones.
 What people People dance and sing
do. the carnival, it is only
possible to laugh and
enjoy. It is a special
celebration.
It is an open stage
that allows any
Colombian or
foreigner to live with
intensity the unique
blend of tradition and
diversity, in a city
known as the Golden
Gate of Colombia and
whose joy is for
everyone to live.

special because they are

costumes, folk dances
and national and
international guest
artists.
