EXPORTING TO EGYPT?

YOUR CERTIFICATE OF INSPECTION (CoI) CHECKLIST

1. OBTAIN A QUALITY MANAGEMENT OR ENVIRONMENTAL CERTIFICATION (I.E. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, GMP, ETC) ISSUED BY AN ILAC
MEMBER COMPANY, Egyptian government body or foreign governmental body approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• If not available, SGS can perform a factory audit, and issue the certificate.
2. THE EXPORTER MUST REGISTER WITH GOEIC (http://www.goeic.gov.eg/en/electronicServices/default/view/id/121), or the
Egyptian Importer must register with the main office of the GOEIC at Maarouf Street 1, Ramsis, Cairo.
3. EXPORTER COMPLETES THE SGS REQUEST FOR CERTIFICATION (RFC) and Declaration of Conformity (DOC), completing ALL
necessary information on the SGS EXPORTER PORTAL (https://exporter-portal.sgs.com).
4. EXPORTER UPLOADS QUALITY DOCUMENTS:
• Manufacturer ISO 9001 certificate
• Technical and/or spec sheets along with any MSDS

• Test reports
• Pro forma invoice
• ISO 17025 certificate for any third party testing labs used
5. PACKET SUBMITTED BY SGS to the Egyptian Certification Center (CC) for review of the certification requirements.
6. THE CC REVIEWS DOCUMENTS and advises if/what product testing and labeling is required.
7. THE EGYPTIAN CoI FEE SCHEDULE SUBMITTED to exporter as an Annual Proposal. It is then returned to SGS by the
Exporter, with credit card form, in order to issue CoIs quickly. An invoice will be issued for the appropriate CoI fee.
8. TEST REPORTS ARE SUBMITTED TO CC for approval upon performance of testing.

9. INSPECTION IS SCHEDULED, either physical or remote, and performed upon approval of Test Reports.
10. PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED prior to the Inspection. If no inspection is performed, payment must be received prior to
issuance of the draft CoI.

11. EXPORTER TO PROVIDE FINAL COMMERCIAL INVOICE upon approval of the Inspection Report.
12. DRAFT CoI SUBMITTED to Exporter for approval and approval must be given by the Exporter. The final CoI is then delivered
to the Exporter.
13. CoI ISSUED TO EXPORTER to accompany any shipping documents for Customs clearance.
14. GOODS ARE SHIPPED.
15. CoI IS NEEDED BY IMPORTER to present at Customs for clearance of shipment.
