What's so great about being a

Everyone's had a freshmen experience in high school.

The upper classmen pick on them; the lower classmen bond
with them. Freshman have more required classes, such as
P.E., Health, and Government. Tyler Wise said, "It feels
like you're the new kid in school. You go from being the top
in 8th grade to the bottom really fast during the first year in

high school." When you begin high school, a whole new world
opens up, and you get an experience that will stay with you
for the rest of your life. Being a freshman isn't easy, but it
isn't hard either. All you have to do is find the right track
to take and ride it for the four years of your high school
experience. So enjoy it and make the most of your time as
the new kid on the block.

There is no other week in our school
that pumps up our spirit other than "Spirit
Week". We work hard to cheer on our
classes as well as our football team. The
week flys by with costumes, colors, men-in-
tights, and don't forget the infamous assem-
bly.
This year we have five different days
to get our school pumped. We start out with
Monday where we see students and faculity
with hearts on their clothes and hearts on
their faces as they participate in "Queen
of Hearts Day." Tuesday on "Pokerface
Day," as we walk down the halls, we see
stylish shades and mustaches- even on the

girls! Next we have Wednesday where we
see twins, triplets and even quadtruplets as
we dress alike for "2-3-4 of a Kind Day."
Then, there's Thursday where we see Lady
of Luck, a troll, and even some pirates on
"Costume Day." Finally Friday we cheer
on our class and dress in our school colors,
we see students dressed all in black, all
in red, white and even all three colors on
"Class Color Day." Friday we also cheer on
the big assembly. Here we yell and scream
and all things possible to win the "Spirit
Stick" We also have fun games and the an-
nual men-in-tights volley-ball tournament
as the teachers and Stu-co battle it out.

Coronation was a huge event this
year. Seven candidates drove up wai -
ing the final answer everyone had on their
mind, "Who is going to be Homecoming
Queen?" When the answer finally came,
Heather Hula was so shocked she had to
make sure they really said her name. Right
after coronation the Homecoming football
game started. Despite the heart wrenching
defeat, the football team visibly worked

dom theme, but not this year. This year

The game is played by lining the two teams up on opposite
base lines with their donkey of choice. When the whistle is

a story behind the lyrics." Mixed Chorus
branches off into two more select groups.
One is Dynamics, and the other is Chamber

What i$ irnpol'fanf fo a dee"?

Whether it is "Yu-Gi-Oh" or "Magic of the Gathering," you have to choose
the type and monsters. Different types for "Yu-Gi-Oh" is Dark, Light, Wind,
Earth, Water, and Fire. "Magic of the Gathering" has Red, Green, White,
Black, and Blue. In "Yu-Gi-Oh" the different monsters are beasts, fairies,
dragons, spell casters, warriors, reptiles, spirits, and more. Remember to
use these suggestions when creating a deck: strong four-star monsters, a way
to summon tribute monsters without having to tribute, a way to draw extra
cards, no more than 40 cards, cards that let you search your deck for other
cards, creatures that summon other creatures when they're destroyed, cards
that can wipe out your opponent's monsters, and traps and spells. A strong
"Yu-Gi-Oh" deck also doesn't have any of these things: huge tribute
monsters and no way to avoid paying the tribute, lots of equip cards, all 100
of your favorite cards, no way to search your deck for your best cards, and a
strategy that involves powering up your favorite monster and crushing your
opponent with it. The trading card club uses these strategies in building a
deck.

read. Library club gives students an

Attending practice everyday and running for
several hours may seem like an undesirable and
crazy sport. However, when you participate and
realize you are toned, losing a couple of pounds,
and going to sate competition it all seems worth
your while. That is exactly what happened to
nine Buffalo High School students in the 2007
season. Junior runner Tyler Compton even
placed 6th place at state. Bravo!
