FREEDOM COMES WITH A COST

Aaron Chairez, Jason Park, Cayden Plooster, David Huang

Overview of Issue:
We are a company trying to spread the awareness of war veterans who are struggling
with mental and physical disabilities. Our veterans fought for our freedom and experienced the
horrific sights and sounds of what war is. This is a very serious and saddening condition that
almost all veterans experience after war. The main disease veterans deal with is PTSD or Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder. This affects a person’s mind by constantly reminding them of the
haunting images of the past causing severe anxiety almost everyday. These diseases affect the
veterans chances of sustaining a job or maybe eve getting a job in the first place.

Mission Statement:
Our group is proud to say we are helping veterans with that have roadblocks in their life
that make it much more difficult on them. It’s our way of giving back to them since they have
risked their lives for us now we can repay them. We are trying to raise money from donations
and spreading awareness so we can get prosthetics for those who have lost limbs. They are
missing that part of their life and if we could give that back to them through the help of everyone
helping us, we will change their lives forever. Imagine making such a big change to someone’s
lifestyle and being able to help them drastically. We will be helping all those who need these
features in their lives and this massive problems of people who will not be able to afford these
prosthetics. Some prosthetics can can from $5,000 up to $50,000 and they are not a one time cost
as well, these happen to only last up to 5 years max. You will need this for the rest of your life so
after all that wear and tear you will need a new one eventually which is a lot of money, which
most people cannot afford that, which we are there to help. Treating veterans with respect and
taking into consideration how much time and effort they have put into helping everyone else in
the country. Personally, my grandpa and my dad were both in the Navy so I have wanted to
follow that path and go into the Navy as well. I would like to do this to support them because of
the past in my family being in the Navy. As much as we can help them the better it is for them
and makes us feel like we are giving back to them.

Action Plan:
Our first goal is to advertise our company and our causes for the veterans that fought for
our freedom. Since our main goal is to help our disabled veterans to be welcomed back into the
society, it is important to inform the society of the problems that they are ignoring.
Advertisement in social media, posting a short informative video and holding different
community event help to reach out and inform more people. Many of the younger generations
are on social media, therefore it will help to gather more teenager volunteers and we will also be
able to help them finish their hours for school. We can also make clothes with our logos along
with the regular donation in order to raise money for the cause.

After all the money and volunteers are gathered, we will focus on our long term goals of
getting prosthetics and therapy dogs for the both of physically and mentally disabled veterans.
Our organization is different from other organizations in this way, because we focus on helping
both physical and mental disabilities. We will also hold many more community events with
therapy dogs for the veterans which will help the veterans to gather and be engaged in the
society.
There are also many other organizations for veterans such as stopsoldiersuicide.org and
ptsd.va.gov that are already helping the veterans. Stopsoldiersuicide.org focus on awareness of
soldier suicide and set up housing for veterans, therapy sessions, and financial aid for some
veterans who are struggling. Ptsd.va.gov teaches the basics of what PTSD is and how it affects
our veterans. They teach others how they can make an impact and how they can help other
veterans. They are a government based website that is mainly an informational site but also help
veterans.
