Project Purpose: This project will showcase your ability to read about a person of
interest, gather specific information about that person and write a report. In
addition, you will “become” that Person by, giving a 2 minute as him/her.

Part 1: Write the Report


You will be writing a paragraph about your famous person’s accomplishment and
their character traits using textual evidence from the book you have chosen.

_____ Step 1- Select a biography of someone of interest to write a report on.

_____ Step 2- While reading, take notes by using the specific textual evidence the
graphic organizer has outlined for you to support your topic.

Writing Process: Use the writing proses as you begin to write

____ Step 1- Write a rough Draft on a lined piece of paper.


 Skip lines when writing.
 Use the graphic organizer to help organize your paragraph.
____ Step 2 – Revise your rough Draft
 Reword or reorganize sentences if needed.
 Use the rubric as your guide
____ Step 3 – Edit your rough draft (use the rubric as a guide).
The paragraph must have:
____ Indentation at the beginning of the paragraph
____ Capital letters at the beginning of the sentences and for all proper nouns
____ Punctuation (Ending marks (.,!,?), Comas (,), quotation marks (“_”).
____ Step 4 – Write the resource information (use resource organizer)
____ Step 5– Peer edit. (Ask a classmate to check for indentation, capital letters, spelling, and
punctuation.)
____ Step 6 – Type your report using Google Docs.
____ Step 7 – Share your report with the teacher using Google Docs share.

Directions: place a checkmark on the line as you complete part of the paragraph requirements

Biography Book Report
Part 2: Write the Speech
You will write the speech portion of the project. The speech will only be about 2-3
minutes in length. For the speech presentation, you will transform yourself into the
person you chose to research. Be creative! Dress as your famous person using cloths
or props you already have! There is no need for a full expensive costume.

____ Step 1 – Decide on what information you would like to include in your speech
Using this guide:
 Early life/ Childhood (date of birth, place of birth, etc…)
 Family (parents, siblings, children, grandparents or who raised them)
 Education( where did they go to school or other training)
 Roles models (who influenced the person the most)
 Challenges (what obstacles did the person face)
 Accomplishments/ Achievements ( give a few examples of honors and
awards)
____ Step 2 – Write a speech on a note card or type and print your speech in the
first person. Remember you are this person so remember to use words, “I”
or “My” to start your sentences.
Sample Speech Starter

My name is ______. I was born on ____ in _____. My parents ,____ and ____. They were______. I
had ___ siblings. Their names are_______ and _______. I started school when I was ____ years old. I was
educated at_______.

____ Step 3 – Practice your speech in front of a family member of a friend.


 Time your speech to 2-3 minutes in length
 Speak loud so your audience can hear you and
 Act believable by speaking confidently
 Try to memorize your speech as you practice
