This document provides a checklist for preliminary checks needed before starting a plunger lift operation. It lists items to check such as wellhead and tubing size compatibility, downhole profile nipple type and depth, pressure transducers, surface facilities like separators and gauges, and the meter run orifice plate size. The checklist emphasizes verifying equipment is present and functioning properly to accurately monitor pressures and flows during plunger lifts.

o Insure the wellhead ID is appropriate for the tubing size. This can be found stamped on the flange of the master valve. Downhole Profile Nipple o Confirm if there is a profile nipple downhole. Confirm profile nipple type and size. Confirm profile nipple depth. Pressure Transducers o Confirm tubing and casing electric pressure transducers. Make sure the transducers are installed and working properly. Confirm RTU/EFM o Type and Model Surface Facility Oil and Water/Gas Separator o Insure that the gas unit is in proper working condition. Inspect dump valves and level controllers. Inspect supply gas pot and regulators. Inspect and remove chokes to insure maximum flow. Inspect Meter Run Orifice Plate o Change out orifice plate if necessary. Use a orifice plate that will accurately measurement without over-ranging the measurement transducer or MVT during moments of high instantaneous rates during plunger cycling. Tubing and Casing Pressure Gauges o Insure tubing pressure gauge is working properly. Be sure all gate, ball or needle valves in-line with the pressure gauge are open and functioning. o Insure casing pressure gauge is working properly. Be sure all gate, ball or needle valves in-line with the pressure gauge are open and functioning. If the well has a packer, note and report any pressure recorded on the casing to your supervisor for inspection of the source of the pressure. Final Report o Be sure to document and report any improper or repairs needed for the mentioned equipment to your supervisor.
