Introduction

Charisma is fundamentally a process - an interface among the characteristics of a charismatic

leader, the group that is being led, their identification with their leader, their needs and the

circumstances that require a charismatic leader like a crisis or need for change. However, as it

relates to the charismatic traits of leader, prominence is placed on the way they communicate

with members of the group and their ability to gain the trust of followers and inspire these

individuals to perform.

As formerly mentioned, charismatic leaders are communicators who are tremendously

skilled. These individuals are very fluent verbally and they have the ability to communicate

with the people they lead on a thoughtful, emotional level. One of the advantages of

charismatic leadership is the aptitude of these individuals to articulate a captivating or

compelling vision. They have the capacity to evoke strong emotions in their followers as well.

In addition, charismatic leaders have the distinct ability to dissect and decipher any inefficiency

within an organization. These visionary characters credited to this leadership style often result

from critical thinking, the gathering of facts and finding ways to solve a variety of problems.

METHODOLOGY

This paper smears literature review and analysis of a short case study. Literature review is

defined as “a systematic search of published work to find out what is already known about the

intended research topic.” (Robinson & Reed, 1998: 58). It lets the identification of gaps and

weaknesses in the prevailing literature (Bless, 2000: 20). Furthermore, it also aids in critiquing

the existing findings in order to propose further research.

Since the paper aims at a critical approach of the existing and prevailing definitions on

charismatic style of leadership, the methodology of literature review was chosen so as to:

 To investigate how previous authors have defined and analysed key concepts

 To give a sense of perspective to our work

 Demonstrate critical analyses of existing works.

There are many boundaries of literature reviews as a research methodology. For case, in order

for a review to reach neutrality the writers will use dissimilar inclusion and exclusion criteria

to screen potentially applicable studies. As a outcome, conclusions might be deceptive due to

selection bias or subjectivity whilst consulting the discussed studies.

Additionally, relevant literature, information or studies might be inadvertently excluded from

the review due to lack of knowledge or other reasons, which include time or resource

constraints. This means that a high number of relevant and pertinent studies might be missed

(Mallett et al., 2012: 449).

CHARISMATIC AND TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP

Transformational leader can be seen as direction that goes past appeal, given that two of the

components of transformational administration include charisma. The components are

mentioned as

 Idealized Influence
 Inspirational Motivation

IDEALIZED INFLUENCE

This is fundamentally the capacity of the leader to be a ethical and positive role model to their

followers. In addition, the transformational leader performs what he or she preaches and is

always there in the channels with the followers. A respectable example of this leadership style

is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. These leaders are known to make the same sacrifices that they

want the followers to make.

In an administrative situation, the charismatic and transformational leader occasionally

becomes the "aspect" of the organization. The late, great Steve Jobs is a prime example of this.
INSPIRATIONAL MOTIVATION

This is the other element of transformational leadership and charismatic leaders are renowned

for it. This is their capacity to motivate and inspire followers to execute at higher levels and to

be totally dedicated to the cause or the organization.

SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CHARISMATIC AND

TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP

There are a number of resemblances between charismatic and transformational leadership. For

example, the transformational leader is classically charismatic as well. The primary

dissimilarity is the basic focus of these two leadership styles. For example, the basic focus of

the transformational leader is altering the organization and the followers during the process,

while the charismatic leader could be quite satisfied with the status quo.

Transformational leadership involves the use of charisma. Though, transformational leaders

are well-known for leading clusters and teams that perform outstandingly. In addition, they

are noted for their ability to identify and foster leadership capacity in the followers. They also

devise methods of assisting the organization or group to innovate and change.

THE FLIP SIDE OF CHARISMATIC LEADERSHIP

Charismatic pioneers have values that are very huge; notwithstanding, this is just helpful when

these pioneers are good natured towards their supporters and can change and raise the whole

gathering. On the off chance that magnetic pioneers are Machiavellian and childish, they have

the ability to shape religions and in actuality assault the brains and even the collections of the

people they are driving.

The self-conviction of appealing pioneers is very high and some are of the conviction that they

are trustworthy and can indiscriminately lead their devotees into a pit. This raised feeling of
self can result in crazy narcissism too. This happens when the requirement for love and

profound respect and self-ingestion result in devotees being confused about the administration.

CONCLUSSION

Charisma is an impalpable term that has been difficult to characterize, and there is no all-

inclusive definition to it. The most widely recognized line of reasoning on appeal is that it's a

characteristic that allures individuals to pursue, and its attractive quality pulls in consideration

and interest. Weber's meaning of magnetism is seen as the basis for how we think and get allure

and magnetic authority. Broad research recommends that is against Weber's stating as “not

accessible to the ordinary person”, which implies that any customary individual can be outfitted

with specific qualities that can make him a charming pioneer.

There is a great requirement for these leaders to possess exceptional communication skills that

involve active listening, motivation and paraphrasing. Charismatic leaders can use their

superior communication skills to evoke certain emotions within followers and to transform

initiatives via direct action from employees.

Similar to other leadership development programs, the curriculum for charismatic leadership

should be designed to invigorate and motivate aspiring charismatic leaders to thrive where their

greatest strengths are exhibited.
