Batch Representative Speech

Ms. Cherry Ann B. Tulop

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another, with no loss of enthusiasm.

To our Guest of Honor, Mr. Roy Lagare, alumnus of Marilog High School of Agriculture
To our patient and humble Principal, Ms. Mirasol O. Fabuna
To the hardworking and energetic teachers of Marilog High School of Agriculture
To the supportive parents, the visitors, my fello graduates, ladies and gentlemen,
GOOD MORNING.

According to Ralph Marston, “Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude.” No man ever

reached to excellence in any profession without having passed through the slow and
painful process of study and preparation. If you are going to achieve excellence in big
things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception; it is a
prevailing attitude. Excellence should be exhibited in everything that we do. Excellence is
an attitude, an unconscious desire to accomplish things excellently that would make us not
meet the expectations but surpass it.

Friends, today is the most awaited day for all of us. This is indeed one of the exciting days,
as we begin another chapter of our lives. To the parents, I am glad that you are all here to
witness this once-in-a-lifetime event. I know that there is a bittersweet feeling today
because we are now saying good bye to our high school life, which also means saying good
bye to our classmates, teachers whom we also consider friends, and the unforgettable
experiences of high school life in general.

It’s quite unbelievable to think that after four years of Junior High and two years of Senior
High nga nagbinaktasay ta, ang uban nagsakay ug habal-habal, then maulanan, mainitan
para lang jud makaadto sa school. Of course, we cannot forget our Senior High School
experiences, especially our Grade 11 stage play that made us unleash our hidden talents,
the NC II Assessments and Performance Tasks that taught us perseverance and patience,
and the Work Immersion Program that exposed us to what it feels like to work in the real
world. We must be thankful to our parents and to God for giving us the strength to survive
all of those. It was difficult, but it taught us how to value every single day of our lives. As I
have mentioned earlier, if we are going to achieve excellence in big things, we develop the
habit in little matters. With all the struggles, we were able to establish acquaintance and
companions whom we shared our happiness with.

It is a pleasure and privilege to stand before you on this special day. I will you all good luck
as we are about to venture into the unknown. Just grab every golden opportunity because
we will never know that it will be the ones that will lead us to a better life. If we strive to be
great, nothing can come between us and our fate. Lastly, if we give it our best shot, and
nothing less, nothing can come between us and success.

To my classmates, who have been my Ate and Kuya, thank you for those moments we have
shared. Though there are times that our ideas and personalities clash, it never placed a
barrier between us because we accept and respect each other.

To our dear principal and teachers, thank you for extending your efforts and giving us
extremely valuable life lessons that we will never forget.

To my family, thank you so much for being always there for me, for supporting me morally
and financially. Thank you for instilling lessons in my head that made me into a fine young
woman. And lastly, the God the Father Almighty, for leading us down this road.

Before I end this speech, I would like to share one of our lessons in Sir Jeff’s Philosophy
class: What makes man truly human? There are various perspectives that can give an
answer to this question, but I would like to share my answer. We are humans because we
can think and we can analyze. Hence, we can find ways to achieve success. But the success
in our chosen field of specialization is not enough. We must also have moral success.
Success in terms of dealing with other people. Success in touching the lives of others,
inspiring others to strive harder to fulfill their dreams. And lastly, success in having a close
connection with God, for all of these will not be possible without Him. Always remember to
do all things for God’s greater glory.

Congratulation, Class of 2019! Soar High and God bless us all!
