SAFETY CHECKS
Ensure Distance between the piling rigs should be not less than the length of

longest leg of the tripods.
2 Ensure Earth slush should be removed and Passage should be kept clear.
Check and ensure Safety Helmet, Goggles Clear, Gumboot and Hand gloves
3 should be used. Safety Belt while working at height and Face shield with suitable
dark glass for welding work should be used.
4 Ensure Exposed reinforcement heads should be properly covered / barricaded.
Check and ensure that Rig-operator, Riggers and Foreman shall have adequate
5
knowledge and experience.
Check Lifting tools and tackles shall have load test certificates of Competent
6
Person.
7 Check Persons shall not be under the suspended load while lifting piles/ load.
Check that Safety Belt shall be used if it is required to climb up the mast or work
8
at height.
9 Ensure and check Loose materials/tools shall not be left at height in the mast.
Check and ensure Piling area shall be barricaded to restrict unauthorized
10
persons.
Check While the rig is in operation, nobody including the concerned workmen
11
shall be allowed in the operation area.
Check for Main Pulley and it’s Pin as they are prone to wear & tear. Frequent
12
check is essential.

 Check that Limit switches of the crane should be tested frequently for ensuring
13
its proper functioning.
Ensure and check All underground services such as Power cables, Pipelines,
shall be identified and located prior to the sheet piling operation. Work permit
14
system shall be followed to ensure that those service lines susceptible to
damage are removed from service and safe for operation.
Check for the Flywheel & other rotating parts of the winch shall be properly
15
guarded.
Check that While driving sheet piles, if any underground obstacles such as
16 boulders are encountered, driving of that sheet pile shall be stopped temporarily
and procedure as mentioned shall be followed.
