Budget Narrative

Throughout the duration of this project, students will be provided handouts and asked to

keep an interactive science notebook to collect their data from experimentation, notes,

interviews, and research. Therefore, additional copy paper and composition notebooks are

essential to provide students with the maximum opportunity for success. Encompassing this

project is an open laboratory exercise in which students will determine the structural and

functional differences of genetically modified and organic produce. Thus, the materials required

for this lab are amble abundance of organic and GMO bananas and tomatoes. Students are

provided a wonderful opportunity to learn about the pros, cons, and effects of gene modification

on foods on a Field Trip to the Willow Bend Environmental Education Center. As a result,

course fees, charter buses, and roundtrip gas mileage are required. Students are asked to

complete a series of interviews and media gatherings to prepare their presentation for the medical

professionals of Mayo Clinic. To provide variation, students will be provided professional

camera equipment and tripods as well as podcasting audio equipment to record as they see fit. To

thank the medical professionals of Mayo Clinic, each volunteer will be provided a

complimentary $50 Starbucks gift card as a “thank-you” for their services.
