The Gallerist holistic summary by Nathan Morse version 1.

Setup 1p: Lacerda (the A.I.) does not count as a player for setup purposes!
1. Each player chooses a player color and does the following:
a. Place your player board near the corner of the gameboard with the gallery of the same color, and sit there.
b. Place your Influence marker (disc) on 10 on the Influence track.
c. Place 8 of your assistants on the unemployment queue on the left side of your player board.
d. Place the other 2 at any two desks in the office toward the upper-right corner of your player board.
e. Take your gallerist (huge pawn). You will place this at the end of setup.
f. Take 10 money from the bank.
g. Take a random 1 each of the 4 Art Dealer (dark gray) cards and the 4 Curator (white) cards.
2. Randomly select a start player, who gets the Start Player tile (the tile with “the gallerist” on it), and does the following setup depicted on the tile:
a. Gather the numbers of different types of visitors, as indicated on the tile, according to the number of players. Return the others to the box.
b. From the gathered visitors, set 1 collector (white visitor) near each red “Studio” space in the Artist Colony.
c. Put the the rest of the gathered visitors (i.e. minus the 4 white visitors) in the bag.
d. Stack tickets in the box office according to the number of players.
3. Artist Colony (right of the board):
a. Shuffle the red and blue Artist tiles together. Draw one at a time. If its matching “Studio” space is empty, place the Artist tile path-side-down on it (except the first
blue you place, which goes path-side-up). If its matching Studio space is full, return the new tile to the box. Continue until each of the 8 spaces has a tile.
b. Place each artist’s 2 Artist’s Signature tokens in the little “tab” area of that artist’s Studio.
c. Place a random Artist Bonus tile face-up on each of the 7 artists with an Artist Bonus space showing. Return the others to the box.
d. For each red artist, move the collector (white meeple) you had set near its space onto the artist.
e. Shuffle each art form’s works of art, and place each stack reward-side-up on the matching space of the Artist Colony.
f. Set the top work of art from each stack beside the International Market (left) side of the board to potentially be in the Auction.
g. For each topmost work of art, place a number of random visitors from the bag on it equal to the number of tickets depicted on it.
4. Media Center (bottom of the board): Stack the Promotion tokens (4 of each) on their respective spaces.
5. International Market (left of the board):
a. Place a random Reputation tile face-up in each space of the top 4 rows (1–2p: leave middle column empty: it won’t be used).
b. Auction: Set up p−1 (min. 1) easels just off the board, each with a random one of the four works of art on it, with the reward side showing. Return the remaining
works of art and any remaining easels to the box.
6. Sales Office (top of the board): Shuffle the Contract cards (white border with pink and brown areas), and place this Contract deck face-down in the upper-left corner of
the board. Lay out the top 4 cards face-up in the spaces to its right.
7. Draw 4 visitors from the bag and put them in the plaza (central space of the board).
8. Draw 1 visitor from the bag to put in each player’s lobby (dotted-line ellipse on the board).
9. Place a random Reputation tile on each Location space.
10. In reverse turn order (starting with player to the right of the start player, and going counterclockwise), claim a Reputation tile, which indicates something for which you
will score at game end (assuming you ever exhibit 3 works at once), from a Location space and place your gallerist on that space. Place the Reputation tile face-up on
its space in your third exhibit on your player board. Return any leftover Reputation tiles to the box.
11. 1p: Choose a color to represent Lacerda (the A.I.). The only components Lacerda needs are his gallerist and 10 assistants.

General rules:
● You cannot have more influence than the Influence track depicts.
● You cannot take 2 tickets of the same color at the same time.
● If you need/want a ticket from the box office that is out of stock, discard one that is in stock to take the one you need/want from the discard pile.
● If you need a ticket from the box office, and all tickets are out of stock, take it from the discard pile.
● An artist whose fame reaches 19 becomes a celebrity and retires.
● 1p: Lacerda takes no actions, except at the International Market, where he puts an assistant in the leftmost available space of the topmost row with an available space;
however, he alternates odd/even: Odd-numbered assistants go in the Reputation section (remove the tile from the game), even-numbered assistants go in the auction
section. If a section is already full, any further assistants are added to the other.

Installing a Reputation tile: (only if you have an empty Reputation space on your player board)
1. Move the Reputation tile onto an empty Reputation space on your player board, taking the bonus printed on the space you cover.
2. Move a visitor (if any) from your lobby to the plaza, as depicted on your player board.
3. What is depicted on this Reputation tile now determines something for which you will score endgame points

Kicked-Out Actions: After you’ve been kicked out of a location, and the player has finished their turn, you may take one of the following actions:
● Reduce your influence to the previous ☆ icon to perform one of the location’s two actions.
● Take an Executive Action.
Whether you take one of those Kicked-Out actions or not, send your kicked-out gallerist/assistant home (1p: Lacerda’s gallerist stays put).

1p Kicked-Out Actions for Lacerda: After Lacerda has been kicked out of a location, and you have finished your turn:
1. Discard a ticket from the most populated stack at the box office (your choice between tied stacks).
2. If it was his gallerist, he stays put and continues his normal clockwise march; assistants just go back to his supply.
3. If it was the International Market, Lacerda takes his usual action there (see general rules).

Sending the gallerist / an assistant home:

● The gallerist goes home to your gallery on the main board.
● Assistants go home to an empty desk in the office on your player board. If there’s no room, remove the assistant from the game.

Becoming a celebrity
1. Place a Celebrity tile (black rectangular tile with ⑤ and ✮) on the artist’s face, and gain 5 money.
2. Any exhibited works by this artist are now masterpieces (move their Signature tokens up to ✮ to the right of everyone’s player boards).

Final Scoring (move the green gallerist-style pawn along the scoring reminder in the purple corner of the board as you go)
● International Market column majorities earn the cash at the bottom (ties add and share, rounded down).
● Reputation tiles in the lower-left area of your player board pay out their rewards.
● Currently exhibited art earns you money according to the works’ current sales values.
● “Auction” the internationally acclaimed works on the easels according to bids held by assistants. Highest total bid gets first pick, and so on. In a tie, tied player with
highest bid in the right column wins; still tied, highest bid in middle column; still tied, highest bid in left column.
a. Take money from the bank as if you had just sold the work of art, and it had been created by the most famous artist in that art form (even if none were discovered).
b. Assign the work of art either to your Curator card as an exhibited work of art, or to your Art Dealer card as a sold work of art.
● Your Art Dealer card pays you for completed sets of sold works of art.
● Your Curator card pays you for completed collections of current exhibits. A single work of art can be part of multiple such sets.
● Receive money based on your position on the Influence track (i.e. the money below your current space, or the first such space down the track).
Most money wins. Tiebreakers, in order:
1. Most works of art acquired (sold and exhibited).
2. Most visitors in your gallery.
3. Most assistants employed.
