Lesson #11

College Research Reflection

1. List the campuses you plan on applying to or have already applied to. Highlight the three
most important criteria you used in determining where to apply.
I had applied to and been enrolled in The Art Institute of California-San Diego before they
had closed, but now am partially through the enrollment process at NewSchool of
Architecture and Design. Both of these schools are small, art based, and have interior
design programs.
2. Which campus is the one you would most like to attend? Explain why this campus is your
first choice compared to the others.
Since the Art Institute closed, my only other option would be NewSchool. This is my first
choice because the other school is no longer in business due to stealing money from the
government.
3. What will be your intended education goal? How does this goal relate to your chosen
career? What resources do these campuses have to support you in this career field?
My goal is to get my Bachelors in Interior Architecture and Design, the credentials I will
need to work as an Interior Designer. NewSchool has a specific building and Dean for their
Interior Architecture and Design students. Their teachers also still work in the industry
which is important for networking and learning useful skills.
4. How do the costs of attendance compare at each campus? How do you plan to cover the
costs of attendance if you are accepted?
Since I am transferring from Art Institute to NewSchool, I get a 15% tuition discount. They
offer a surplus of scholarships and I can apply for scholarships outside of the school. Aside
from that, I have my CalGrant and student loans to use with any leftover costs. In
addition, I have a savings account for any supplies I might need.
5. Do you plan on transferring to a four year college? If so, which campuses are you interested
in transferring to?

No, I will be attending a four year college but I will not transfer to one from a community
college.

6. Are there transfer agreements available? If so, which agreements do you plan to use to
successfully transfer? What are the requirements of these agreements?

When I decided to enroll in NewSchool when Art Institute closed they agreed to give all
transfer students 15% off of their tuition.

7. Which classes are transferable from the community college you plan to attend to the
campus you plan to transfer to? Are there classes that will not transfer?

I am not attending a community college.
