1.1. INTRODUCTION

This catalog of parts and accessories (CPA) contains the necessary information for the
identification and the ordering of the spare parts, the accessories, the tools and the gauges of
the coaxial MAG™(056) machine gun.

1.2. DESCRIPTION

The coaxial MAG™(056) machine gun is a gas-operated, full-automatic, multi-purpose

weapon firing the 7.62 x 51 mm ammunition.

The coaxial MAG™(056) has the following features :

- Standard-type barrel

- Standard-type receiver

- Gas regulator with 3 positions

- Left-hand ammunition feeding

- Disintegrating M13 links ammunition belt

- Cocking handle

- Infantry trigger frame

2.1. STRUCTURE OF THE PARTS AND INDEX LISTS

2.1.1. Structure of the parts lists

The parts lists contain all information regarding the different parts of the weapon.
The information is given in both visual and tabular form.
• The visual information normally consists of exploded views or separate representations of
individual parts.
In some cases (e.g. some accessories or commercial tools, ...), no visual information has been
provided.
The numbers indicated on the visual representations refer to the catalog number (1st column of
the parts list tables).

If no number has been assigned to a part of a visual representation, this means that
the part is not available as a spare part : it forms a component of a fabricated unit !

• The parts list tables are composed of 7 columns with the following headings :

- CAT n° : The catalog number of the parts available as spare parts

- Description : The name of the part
If the name of the part is preceded by (x) ‘>’ signs, this means that the
part is a component of the previous part with (x-1) ‘>’ signs.
Example : a part with just one ‘>’ sign is a component of the previous
part without ‘>’ signs.

- Qty per unit : The number of times the part is used in this particular section of the
weapon or, if the part is a component of a previous part, the number
of times it is used in that particular part
- FM : The recommended ‘Field Maintenance’ quantity (refer to § 2.3)
- AM : The recommended ‘Advanced Maintenance’ quantity (refer to § 2.3)
- GM : The recommended ‘General Maintenance’ quantity (refer to § 2.3)
- Tools & gauges : The tools necessary for the removal and, if required, also the
calibration of the part

2.1.2. Structure of the index lists

The index lists allow identifying a part if its CAT n° is known.

They are composed of 3 columns with the following headings :

- CAT n° : The catalog number in increasing numerical order

- Fig. n° : The number of the Fig. onto which the part is visually represented
- Page n° : The number of the page of this CPA onto which the part is described

2.2. HOW TO IDENTIFY A PART

2.2.1. You have the part but you don’t know its CAT n° nor its description

• Identify the part on one of the exploded views or other visual representations.
• If a number has been assigned to the visual representation of the part, refer to the
corresponding parts list table to obtain all the necessary information about the part.
If no number has been assigned to the visual representation of the part, this means that the part is
not available as a spare part : it forms a component of a fabricated unit !

2.2.2. You know the CAT n° of the part

Refer to the index lists in chapter 5 of this CPA in order to determine the Fig. and the page onto
which the part is represented.

2.3. MAINTENANCE QUANTITIES

The columns 4 to 6 of the parts list tables give the recommended quantities for the following 3
maintenance levels :
FM (Field Maintenance) requires simple components for quick repairs without any
specific tool : it is the closest maintenance support for the user.
AM (Advanced Maintenance) requires components to carry out repairs by advanced
maintenance units.
GM (General Maintenance) requires components which need more sophisticated tools
and gauges. This level of maintenance allows complete repair at depot level.
The given quantities are the minimum quantities estimated for 100 weapons in peacetime.
A dash ‘-’ in a column indicates that the part is available as a spare part but not recommended for
that maintenance level.
A cross ‘x’ in a column indicates that the part is recommended for that maintenance level while
other recommendations could be made after discussion with the client.

2.4. HOW TO ORDER PARTS

To order a part of the weapon, simply quote :

• The CAT n° of the part (1st column of the parts list table)
• The description of the part (2nd column of the parts list table)
• The codification number of the weapon :

The appropriate codification number is mentioned at the bottom of the page onto which
the part is represented.
Parts with a low unit price are only available in batches of 100 to reduce handling and shipping
costs.
The weapon, its spare parts, its accessories, its tools and its gauges are shipped in FN Herstal
best commercial packing.
