A.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Cooperating School Principal

The role of the Cooperating School Principal is to collaborate with the College Student Teaching
Supervisor as a resource and facilitator of placements of student teachers and provides the social and
professional aspects of administering practice teaching.

The duties and responsibilities:


a. Assigns a student teacher to a qualified cooperating teacher in coordination with school
department head/chairman and with the College Student Teaching Supervisor;
b. Meets regularly with cooperating teachers and student teachers;
c. Conducts regular conference with the cooperating teachers as regards to the performance of the
student teachers;
d. Coordinates with the College Students Teaching Supervisor of the students teachers;
e. Prepares required reports to the TEI copy furnished the School Division Superintendent

Specific duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following:

a. Coordinates with the School Division Superintendent in the selection of the cooperating schools:
b. Prepares and implements the MOA between the TEI and the Division Office;
c. Coordinates with the cooperating school head regarding the activities and student teaching needs
of the student teachers;
d. Orients the student teachers for their off-campus work;
e. Conducts regular observation and evaluation of the student teaching performance of student
teacher;
f. Coordinates regularly with the department heads and cooperating teachers regarding the
performance of the student teacher
g. Free the students teachers from any academic loads not prescribed by the curriculum

B. Duties and Responsibilities of the Cooperating Teachers

Cooperating teacher refers to the teacher who is assigned to guide the student teacher in the
development of professional competencies, attitudes and behavior. He/she serves as role model and
advocates the student teacher to develop an individual teaching style and personal talents in regard to
educational training. The Cooperating Teacher shall:

a. Observe mentor – mentee relationship:


b. Assist the student teacher in honing their skills through:
b.1 regular class observation and post conference
b.2 lesson planning
b.3 use of varied approaches/ strategies/ techniques\
b.4 classroom management
b.5 assessment of learning outcomes
b.6 questioning techniques
b.7 preparation of instructional materials
b.8 preparation of examinations/various assessment modes;
b.9 accomplishment of different forms and related work;

c. Observe, coach/mentor and evaluate the performance of the students teacher;


d. Keep a record of observations and post conference made with the students teachers;
e. Model effective teaching and management techniques;
f. Provide the student teacher the opportunity to teach independently and collaboratively:
g. Provide the student teacher participation in co-curricular and school/community activities:
h. Complete a set of summative evaluation reports for each student teacher: and
i. Recommend a PASS or FAIL standing of the student teacher for the practicum. This is done after
proper steps, coaching and preventive measures have been exhausted. Make available proper and
valid documents.

C. Duties and Responsibilities of the Student Teachers

Student teachers refer to the students who undergo student teaching program. As the final
phase of students’ pre-service training, internship provides them the rudiments of teaching in a cyclical
process of planning, actual teaching and evaluating learning. Here student teachers put into actual practice
all that they have learned in the content and theory courses, strategies and methods of teaching as well as
put into test the pedagogical content knowledge acquired in related courses prior to Student Teaching.

They shall have the following duties and responsibilities:


a. Participate actively in all school related activities;
b. Notify the cooperating teacher in case of absence;
c. Consider/be open to constructive criticisms;
d. Respect the dignity and rights of children;
e. Come prepared at all times;
f. Return all borrowed books and materials to the cooperating school before the term ends,
accomplish clearance from the cooperating school:
g. Accomplish the internship portfolio; and
h. Projects a good image as teacher at all times by observing
h.1 the Codes of Ethics
h.2 proper dress code
h.3 punctuality in all activities of internship

D. Duties and Responsibilities of the Student Teaching Supervisor/ College Supervisor

Student Teaching Supervisor/ College Supervisor refers to the faculty member of the Teacher Education
Institution in charge of Field Studies and Student Teaching Program, who teachers the course and
oversees the various activities.
The primary role of the Students Teaching Supervisor/ College Supervisor is to provide support
for the teaching interns and the cooperating teachers, clarify requirements and assist teaching interns in
organization, planning, reviewing teaching and non-teaching plans and scheduling class/mom-class
observations.
Specifically, the Student Teaching Supervisor/ College Supervisor shall:
a. Orients the pre-service teachers on the rationale and procedures of the experiential learning
course (Field Studies and Student Teaching Program);
b. Conduct orientation meeting in order that expectation of both parties are made clear to all
concerned:
c. Determine the readiness and ability of the pre-services teachers to do the activities for the field
study courses and for the student teachers to undergo student teaching;
d. Coordinate with the cooperating school head regarding the activities of the field study students
and the student teaching needs of the student teachers;
e. Orient the field study students about their activities and the student teachers for their off-campus
work:
f. Conduct regular observation and evaluation of the student teaching performance of student
teachers;
g. Coordinate with the cooperating school principal/department head and cooperating teachers
regarding performance of student teachers
