In what ways does Betty’s lessons reflect her attempts to demonstrate or use effective
teaching skills?
She is optimizing the time by time 10 minutes of brief review and 40 minutes for the
worksheet. She already has the material, equipment, and activities planned so, she can
begin as soon as the period of her class begins. She demonstrates establish set skills in
the way of short review to establish what students already know about the topic. Betty
use question before the quiz to help students have a clear understanding, monitoring and
giving a feedback of the certain topic to clarify students’ answers. She uses lower order
thinking question because it engage students to answer the question by recalling, restating
and performing a task. The way she asked “what is the main source of water" categorized
as convergent question to emphasize important point.

2. There are many ways in which Betty seems to fail to apply effective teaching skills. What
are some of these?
Answers:
In this case, what stands out most from Betty's failure to apply effective teaching
skills is in Using Questions. Betty reviewed yesterday's material by asking verbally
"What are the sources of drinking water?" which is where she asked this question
yesterday, but her students still answered the question wrongly. Then Betty gave an
answer with the intention that her students would remember it, but in reality, in the
remaining time Betty again asked the same question and it turned out that her students
could not answer Betty's question. This means, Betty also failed to implement effective
teaching skills in the Providing Clear Instruction section, where one part of the skill was
Ensuring Students' Understanding.
3. Why do you suppose even good teachers have lessons that sometimes go like Betty’s
does?
Answers:
Because, teaching students from variable background knowledge and manners is a
true challenge. Sometimes here a teacher is tested to deal with various problems about
students. Therefore, the teacher must have a various strategies and teacher professional
skills to overcome some case in the class.
4. If you were in Betty’s position, what things would you have attempted to do differently?
Answers:
If we were Betty, maybe I will do simple things like make it into a game, or
maybe I will do some achievement and appreciation for those who can answer the
question properly.
