Statement
These infographics cover a very important topic in today’s society, prejudice and the
effect it has on people’s lives. Many people all across the world have been affected by
discrimination at least once in their lives. It is a problem that has become all too common.
Prejudice can vary among many different topics. For example, an unarmed black teenager
could be shot and killed by a police officer because of a prejudice the officer may have towards
the victim. Another example is women not having equal pay to men. The reason this infographic
was created is to show people how many situations across all groups of people, are affected by
discrimination. Prejudice can be spread across any race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc
and can have very drastic effects on a person’s life. For example, I watched a Netflix
The thing that interested me the most about this documentary is instead of covering the court
case or police reports of the murder, it follows how it affected the Ford family. The film is
directed by Yance Ford, the brother of William Ford Jr, as he gives very in depth descriptive
Something that does get overlooked in today’s society is the discrimination against
people who are not minorities. Although it may not happen as often or on as wide of a scale that
it does for people who are minorities, it is still a common thing that happens in today’s society.
For example, I included a piece in my infographic from the Joe Rogan Experience podcast
about people discriminating against white people. Another thing that is talked about in this
episode of the podcast is extreme feminists being prejudice against men. Rogan discusses a
They then discuss how in today’s society it is looked at as “ok” to be sexist against men, but if
for example a man’s profile picture said “Trust no woman” they would be scrutinized. Another

example that Rogan lists is the controversy about the New York Times hiring Sarah Jeong, who
in the past had tweeted very racist comments about white people. Rogan explains how in
today’s society if that were someone tweeting about a different race, they would not be able to
find a job anywhere, but since the comments were about caucasian people it is seen to be ok.
The reason I made these infographics was to show that almost everyone in today’s
society gets discriminated against one way or another. Now, some groups have far worse
repercussions than others, but at the end of the day no one should be judged by their race,
religion, gender, or sexual orientation. Society will not advance socially in anyway until everyone
can look at someone and see past their race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. The theme
I want to stress the most is not about equality, it is about unity. Until every man or woman of
color can stand next to someone who is not, and vice versa, treating them the same way you
would treat anyone else there will be no equality. You cannot have equality until everyone is
united.
The colors I chose have a base blue scheme to them. The reason I chose the blue
scheme is for two reasons. The first reason is because a lot of the information I retrieved
throughout my research was in regards to police violence among African Americans. Blue is a
color that people associate with police. I thought it would be a good color to use, because it
relates to a lot of points I use throughout the infographics. The second reason I used blue is
because I have always thought of blue as a uniting color. For example, in a lot of free nations
flags the color blue is present, because of this I have always made a connection between the
color and being free. I chose a basic sans serif font for my two infographics because I felt that a
serif font is not as professional. Prejudice is a very serious and sensitive in the 21st century, so I
felt using a very professional font was the right choice. The pictures on each infographic I used

to draw more attention to the design. If someone were to see an infographic that was 100%
words and information they wouldn’t pay attention and probably would end up passing over it.
