TAIJA-RAE HAWAI’I COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

847 FORT STREET MALL
TAGALAN HONOLULU, HI 96813

Dear Catherine Howland,

My name is Taija-Rae Tagalan and I am a senior Communications
student at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. I will be graduating in
TAIJA.TAGALAN@GMAIL.COM May 2019 and I am interested in pursuing a career in Public
Relations. Now more than ever, we are seeing traditional PR become
integrated with marketing communications, especially with the
increasing popularity of social media. I am fascinated by this merging
of industries and I would like to gain some tangible, real-world
(808)344-8724 experience in this field. With that being said, I would be honored if
you would allow me to intern with your company for the spring
semester.
I do not have any prior internship experience, however, I am a quick
learner and can easily adapt to change. In addition to this, I am the
current Secretary and Treasurer for the Public Relations Student
LINKEDIN.COM/IN/TAIJARAE Society of America (PRSSA) UH Manoa chapter. My secretarial duties
include maintaining chapter correspondence, recording general and
TAGALAN
executive board meeting minutes, and keeping track of
membership. Additionally, as treasurer, I manage chapter finances
and collect membership dues which are sent to PRSSA national
headquarters. Through this pre-professional organization, I am able
to connect with and learn from a variety of Public Relations
professionals in our community and across the country.
I believe I am qualified for this position because I am passionate,
organized, hardworking and adept at working in group settings.
Through personal and work-related experience, I have gained a
familiarity with computer software and various social media
platforms.
I am aware that this type of work can be challenging at times, but I
am eager to learn, grow, and gain more hands-on experience.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. I look forward
to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Taija-Rae Tagalan
