DETAIL ACTIVITY:
John Crane Jakarta received 3 Set Mechanical Seal type 5620 Size 4.75” from Exxon Mobil. The seal
was hand carry by Alham from John Crane Surabaya. (Mechanical seal for Pump C, Pump D and
Spare mechanical seal for Pump C that failed too).
To ensure the mechanical seal condition, we conduct the static air test.
With testing details as follows:
- Test media : Clean air
- Test pressure : 2 Kg/Cm2
- Test periods : 5 minutes
There is no pressure drop found.
After conducting the static air test, we dismantling the mechanical seal and cleaning all the
mechanical seal parts. (Inspection report attached)
After cleaning, the seal has been marked to prevent seal swapped. Ex : marking C2 it means this seal
was the spare seal that already used for pump C.
All of mechanical seal contact face (Both of Outboard and Inboard primary and mating ring) has
been re-lapping to provide the standard flatness and to remove the wear mark.
Checking the outboard Primary, O-ring 159 cross section and also Inside diameter of outboard
retainer. And the result is we cannot found any deviation to this part, so it can be re-used again.
After we check the dimension, all of 3 mechanicals seal assembly in cartridge again.
And after the seals assembly, we conduct the static air pressure test again to all of 3 mechanical
seal. (Testing video attached)
With testing details as follows:
- Test media : Clean air
- Test pressure : 3.5 BarG
- Test periods : 5 minutes
There is no pressure drop found.
We increase the static air pressure test to all of 3 mechanical seal. With testing details as follows:
- Test media : Clean air
- Test pressure : 4 BarG
- Test periods : 30 minutes
There is no pressure drop found.
