1) PLAN
Benchmarking was to be done between students of VIT, Vellore and IIT, Bombay on 4
parameters namely
1)Academic Ability
2)Functional Knowledge
3)Exposure and Industry Ready
4)Research Inclination
The information required was gained through multiple online resources that incluced the
main websites of the afore mentioned colleges and the benchmarks for each of the parameters
were set
 2) COLLECT
Data on product performance (performance of the students of the two colleges) were
collected and ideal graphs were made to see the difference and for analysing purposes

4) REFINE
From the analysis drawn we see that VIT while maintaining itself quite well against IIT, isn’t
up to the same level as them. This calls for change in the way VIT presents itself and how it
caters to the need of the students. VIT can tackle these problems by incorporating simple
changes such as
Changing the education system to make it more practical centred rather than theoretical
centred.
Encourage students to take part in various extracurriculars and reward them based on their
efforts.
The selection criteria needs to be more refined so as to promise a student body of a higher
calibre so as to get good results.
Students should be made to work on publications of research in journals which would also
increase the overall reputations and ranking of the university
