This is intended to be an observation and reflection on the instructional design and
implementation of a lesson. You are not in this classroom everyday, so do not make any
judgements.
1. What do you observe in the classroom that either helps students with the learning process,
or helps create an interesting learning environment?
The white board which has their agenda on it. That way they
can get right into their work as soon as they come into the
class.
2. How does the teacher connect a lesson to previous lessons or information in the text?
While reading, she stops to talk about what they just read together and asks
questions.
3. How has the teacher organized media print materials for the instructional activity?
4. How is the instruction balanced between teacher-centered and student-centered?
It’s all teacher centered
5. How does the teacher monitor independent and group work during class?
She sits at her desk and watches the kids read.

this accomplished and how does it impact student learning?
Yes. They read their book independently. Then read their class book all together

student-directed? Teacher-directed learning?
Student directing: none.
8. How does the teacher’s pacing of instruction affect the learning process for students?
There’s not many instructions. The students are just switching between reading
one book and another the whole class period.

She walks around the desks and watches from her desk.
