Reflection Paper on Classroom Observation

A good teacher holds the attention of students in the learning process. The great
challenge of a teacher is to take on hold the engagement of students to learning. The
question is what have you done to engage them in learning and motivate them to
continue learning?
We are learning everyday from books, school, friends, parents, teachers, society,
community etc. We learn from our daily experiences and it is always part of our life. As
teachers we are known to be the source of information that’s why we need to get
updated of the trends of today. Classroom observation is one of the ways to improve
teaching strategies and pedagogy. I find it important to have classroom observation to
your co-teachers or even to some experience teachers because we can learn from
them.
In my classroom observation I learned that student and teacher relationship is
very important in learning, because students find it easy to approach the teacher when
they have problems in their activity. It is also one way of knowing your student social,
physical, mental and personal needs which can be helpful in looking for ways to
improve your teaching strategy to every kind of student you have. Moreover, I learned
that cooperative learning let the students engage in learning and it also help them to
learn from others. It is also important to impose discipline in your classroom because
discipline is always part of our success.
Despite of the resources scarcity, it is always up to the teacher to find ways and
be flexible whatever situation she is in to in her teaching career. Teaching always take
great challenge and let us be grateful for the chance to make the lives of a few bit
better.

Reflection Paper on Demonstration

Teaching is both an art and science. We are the light into the learners. We are
filling the pail. I believe that students learn through things they love. So as teacher we
need to be flexible on whatever is the learning style of our students in order to meet
their needs in learning.

It was my first time to view myself teaching. I find it helpful because you can see
yourself on how you are dealing with your students. You can also see how you carry
yourself and observe your quite annoying mannerism. Moreover, preparedness is also
one key of confidence. You cannot say that you cannot feel the tense while teaching
your students because you are doing it every day. I was actually tense during my
demonstration because the camera feels me conscious. Despite of the camera
presence, I tried my best to teach them the way they can understand the lesson. The
greatest challenge of a teacher is actually to hold your students attention. How do we do
it? It is through teaching them through the things they love. The section that I had my
demonstration was actually active and competitive students. They are the first section of
grade 9 level in Lumbia National High School. In terms of activities all of them will really
participate. As their English teacher I prepare series of activities that would allow them
to do it with their hands since they love to have that kind of activities. If you give them
task they will set time for that activity and make sure that they are 100% ready on the
day of presentation, which also remind me that teacher should also be ready always for
whatever challenge awaits.

The world is changing, there are things before that won’t work today but they are
always part of our learning, part of things that needs to be innovated in order to meet
the needs of our learners. To teach is to learn. Never stop learning for learning never
ceases.
