Romexis Restore Backup

• How to restore a backup

of the Romexis Database?

 SQL Server Management Studio
Express
• Check if you already have installed ‘SQL Server
Management Studio Express’
• Start menu -> Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2005

• If not, you can find it on the Romexis CD under

InstallCD\Tools\SQL Server Management Studio\
• Run SQLServer2005_SSMSEE.msi and do the
installation.

• Start SQL Server Management Studio Express from

the Windows Start Menu.
• SQL Server Management Studio Express is a program
for database management.

Logging into SQL Server

Management Studio Express
• Logging in to the Romexis Instance using
Management Studio
• Server Name: Local_PC_Name\ROMEXIS
• Authentication: SQL Server Authentication
• Login: sa
• Password: pwr0mex1s

• Click ‘Connect’.

 Detaching the database
• If you still have a Romexis database listed under
‘Databases’, start by detaching it.

Detaching the database

• Tick ‘Drop Connections’.

• Press ‘OK’.
• Now the database is
detached.

 Renaming detached database
• Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server
2005\MSSQL.#\MSSQL\Data
• Rename or copy the old database files to a another
directory.
• Romexis_db.mdf -> Romexis_db.mdf_old
• Romexis_db_log.ldf -> Romexis_db_log.ldf_old

Restoring Backup

• Now when the database is detached, you only have

‘System Databases’.
• It is time to restore the database.

 Restoring Backup

• To database: romexis_db
• Choose as source ‘From Device’ and press the ‘…’
button.

Restoring Backup

• Choose ‘File’ as ‘Backup media’ and press ‘Add’.

• Browse to your specified backup directory and pick
the wanted .BAK file.
• Press ‘OK’.

• Tick ‘Restore’ and press ‘OK’.

• The following dialog will appear and you have

successfully restored the backup.

• Restart the Romexis Service with Romexis Service

Control.
• Open SQL Management Studio Express and check
that you have romexis_db as database.
• Start up Romexis.
