Dear Reader:
Coming into senior I was nervous on how I was going to perform in my writing assignments.

From previous writing assignments I knew that I had to work on a lot of things to meet the

requirements of the writing rubric. Before coming into senior most of my mistakes were that I

often used contractions, my MLA format was wrong, I would often not introduce a quote, and I

would not proof read before turning in my writing assignment. I knew there had to be a change

in my writing so I took the time to improve so I would not often make those mistakes.

My writing goal coming into senior year was to get an 90% or higher on my writing assignments

with minimal grammar mistakes. I learned a lot of things this year on how to have a well written

paper. With the help of Ms. Figueroa, I implemented the strategies she taught me to take my

writing to the next level and improve drastically. I took all the feedback that was given to me to

better my writing assignments for example, I took the time to proof read my writing assignments

before turning it in, I started to get rid of the habit of using contraction words, and I learned how

make my paper MLA format.

My biggest strength in my writing has to be introducing and explaining quotes when trying to

support a claim. It is shocking to me that I improved in my writing because writing is not really

for me. My most proud essay would have to be end of unit Chaucer’s definition of love, honor,

and gender-roles. I am proud of that assignment because I got an overall good grade, looking

back into it I did a great job on supporting my quotes and there were minimal grammar mistakes.

I feel confident about the entire portfolio, if I put in the hard work it will pay off with an overall

good grade. All my previous assignments were revised and edit so it can be presentable when the

portfolio is due. Looking back before senior to now I am glad that I improve in my writing, even
though my writing is not perfect I am still satisfied with the outcome. I believe I am going to

improve more as time goes by, if I take the time to improve on my writing to lessen the mistakes

I make, my writing assignments will be good.

All my accomplishments will help me in the future during college. My writing goals after high

school is to be consistently writing good essays in college and to not constantly repeat the same

mistakes I did in my writing during high school. After high school I will be pursuing a career in

mechanical engineering, and I believe with my writing skills I will be able to respond and send

emails professionally. Overall, I am grateful for the help I got from my teachers during high

school to improve my writing and I believe it will pay off in the long run.
