Dear Ms. Figueroa,

When senior year arrived I was nervous to test my skills. You know the skills of evidence,

language/vocabulary, and the focus of the topic for writing. Even before senior year I had

struggles and weaknesses filled with grammar and brainstorming ideas. Personally, I think I still

have struggles with brainstorming because I need time to do research or think about the times in

the past. Brainstorming is somewhat hard for me to come up depends on the topic. Now in the

present, I have notice some weaknesses I have that I have not notice such as keeping my

statements to its topic. Picture this, you are driving on a straight road (which is your topic). All

of the sudden you make these left and right turns and not sticking to that straight road. Honestly I

learned a lot in your classroom and I’m proud of that because it prove to me that I can become

better at writing. All those senior portfolio reflections actually do reflect how well I did. I say I

slightly increase on my vocabulary. I try to stay ahead but inside me I lack of doing work when

I’m home. Staying in school helps me get my work done so I can relax and worry about it later.

When you revise my essays I am thankful for that because believe it or not it teaches me from

my mistakes. The saying, “Learn from your mistakes” is good for anything in general because it

is true. Out of all the essays I have wrote, my social issue essay is my most proud one because

we got to choose what social issue there are and I chose mental illness which is going crazy in

this generation especially in music. When I edit and revised my paper I was amazed how much I

typed and how many pages there were. In total, there are seven pages with a lot of effort in it

even the research. Yeah it was hard but as long as you have the effort to do it, you will be done

in no time. Looking through my essays was a drag, I’m not going to lie but it feels like as if all
the weight has disappear and I can finally be free with my education. All of the essays have

familiar themes like Chaucer essay and who cause Macbeths downfall essay. I am glad that all

these essays are done because we are almost near graduation so this is important to me. I am

pretty sure this is important to you as well because you would like to see your students graduate.

Learning my writing accomplishments and how I succeed on achieving my writing goals, I think

it will come in handy in college when I get an essay assignment such as an argumentative essay.

If I ever become an author with a hit novel I would be so proud of myself and all the credit

would go to you Ms. Fig. To the future seniors, time management and effort is all that matters

when you put in work. Take a deep breath and do things one at a time.
