Grade 3, Emily Carr Public School, Oakville ON February – March 2019
• Developed and taught Math, Social Studies and Language unit plans while adapting lessons
to students’ individual needs and interests. Developed a culturally sensitive Social Studies
unit plan while using the inquiry method to increase student interest. Used scaffolding
techniques and differentiation to meet all students learning goals.

Environmental Program Assistant, Royal Botanical Gardens, Burlington ON March 2019


• For an alternative practicum, facilitated curriculum-based camps to foster students’ interests
and passions concerning the environment. Worked with students to create responsible
citizens through the exposure to the environment. Fostered curiosity regarding the stability
of the environment, and their impact on our community daily.

Grade 6, Emily Carr Public School, Oakville ON October -November 2018


• Implemented Social Studies, Science and Language unit plans using a variety of techniques
including scaffolding to improve students’ comprehension of tasks. Worked one on one with
students completing the BAS reading program to assess for reading comprehension, fluency
and ability to decipher important information in text. Assisted with Student Leadership club,
working with intermediate students to bring positivity, entertainment and a safe space to the
rest of the school community.

Grade 1/2, Sydenham Public School, Kingston ON October 2016-April 2017


• Taught a differentiated measurement unit to meet both grade’s curriculum expectations and
student learning goals. Assisted in delivering the “Reading A-Z” program, working to
develop both introductory and comprehensive reading skills to students of all levels. Worked
with a student with behaviour management difficulties to ensure safety of all students and
foster an environment of success for the student.

Grade 2, Alton Village Public School, Burlington ON March 2016


• Provided extra assistance to English Language Learners in reading and writing. Performed
PM benchmark assessments for students on Individual Education Plans and students
supported by the English Language Learners program. Created and delivered integrated
Math and Social Studies lessons on mapping and perimeter.

• Supervised Full-Day Kindergarten exploration activities while observing student interactions
and looking for student demonstration of aspects of the Four Frames. Assisted with PM
Benchmark Guided Reading Program, working to improve student’s literacy skills and
fostering a love of reading.

• Completed one-on-one conferencing regarding essay topics, worked to develop fluency in
their writing. Assisted a student with a learning exceptionality to organize belongings,
prioritize assignments and meet goals.

Buddy, Queen’s University Kaleidoscope Program September 2017-April 2018


• Volunteered my time to the Kaleidoscope program at Queen’s University to support at risk
youth. Emphasis was placed on supporting social-emotional needs and making a connection
with students through academic and arts activities. Worked with a 4-year-old kindergarten
student to develop basic reading and writing skills.

Grade 6, Roberta Bondar Public School, Brampton ON May 2015 -June 2015
• Worked with students to complete unfinished work in a timely manner. Observed lessons
and assisted with group activities. Assisted with coaching of senior girl’s soccer team.

Volunteer/Trainer for Special Athlete Track Meet, Halton DSB June 2007-2016
• Worked with students with physical and cognitive exceptionalities at an outdoor track meet.
Encouraged students to participate in the events and assisted students with physical
limitations to ensure all students’ enjoyment. Trained new volunteers to support student
needs.

Tutor for Literacy Skills, Kingston ON September 2015-March 2016


• Worked with a six-year-old boy with ADHD to improve introductory literacy skills using
scaffolding techniques, technology, and games to command the student’s attention and
interest. Developed a set routine with the student, with rewards and praise for his hard work
towards developing literacy skills.

• Led multi-sport programs for children ages 2-8. Developed lesson plans to reflect program
curriculum and to accommodate the individual needs of the children.
