1 SCOPE
This specification together with the below specifications, covers the minimum requirements for floating drain
valves to be used in the EPC-3 BRT Expansion Project.
The latest codes and standards as of 1st Jan 2005 shall be applicable.
3 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
The floating drain valves supplied to this project shall comply with the following requirements. Where the
applicable codes and standards specify more stringent requirements, they shall take precedence over this
paragraph.
(2) The floating drain valve shall be provided with a means to monitor the valve’s operation.
(3) Vendor shall submit general assembly drawings with his quotation for Purchaser’s review and
approval.
3.2 Materials
(1) Materials used for the fabrication of the drain valves shall be in accordance with Attachment-2 “Data
Sheet for Floating Drain Valves”.
(2) Materials shall be suitable for the fluid and process conditions specified in Attachment-2 “Data Sheet
for Floating Drain Valves”.
3.3 Design
(1) End flanges shall be in accordance with ASME B16.5. Threaded ends shall be in accordance with
ASME B1.20.1.
(2) Flange facing finish shall be 125 to 250 microinches root mean square.
3.5 Welding
Refer to NG03-KBE-ALL-MS-600-S5.0011 and NG03-KBE-ALL-RS-600-S5.0002. These specifications
shall be applicable to welds in valves such as repairs.
Using FCAW is subject to Purchaser/ Company’s approval before order placement. Welding consumables
used for FCAW on austenitic stainless steel welding shall have Bi content maximum 0.002%.

SHEET 6 OF 7
Key:
A = Complete visual examination of all welds, as specified by ASME B31.3, paragraph 344.2.
B = Complete visual examination of at least 10 percent of all welds, as specified by ASME
B31.3, paragraph 341.41.(a).
C = Random radiography (or ultrasonic examination) of 25% of all welds, as specified by ASME
B31.3, paragraph 341.4.1(b). (See Note 1.)
D = 100 percent radiography (or ultrasonic examination) of all welds. The acceptance criteria
for random radiography apply, except that undercutting and incomplete penetration are
not permitted in this piping.
E= Magnetic particle or dye penetrant examination (final pass and root pass). (See ASME
B31.3, paragraphs 344.3 and 344.4.) All welds.
F= Magnetic particle or dye penetrant examination (final pass only). (See ASME B31.3,
paragraphs 344.3 and 344.4.) All welds.
G = Magnetic particle or dye penetrant examination (final pass only). (See ASME B31.3,
paragraphs 344.3 and 344.4.) 25% of welds.
Notes:
1. For random radiography, at least one weld of each welder, for every material grouping he
welds and for the weld process he uses, shall be radiographed. In process examination,
ASME B31.3, paragraph 344.7 may be substituted for random radiography (or ultrasonic
methods), with prior Company Designee approval.
