Assessment – TCH&LRN 413

3/24/2019

1. Write your (revised) language objectives.

SWBAT orally recite numbers (1 – 20) when counting out and using mathematical manipulatives

SWBAT use structured language such as ‘there are ____ objects on this page.’ And ‘I chose this
to represent ______ because ______’ to explain and describe their choices of representation for
the quantities 1-20.

2. Describe creative and interesting ways to assess student achievement on your language
objectives.

 Oral Interviews – Ask students to count to twenty and then ‘interview’ them about their
books.
 Collecting their booklets – check to see if each number is represented and then copy
their book to create a big book of counting to 20 with a page from everyone’s book.
 Monitoring and listening while walking around – Listen to their organic and natural
conversations while they work.
 Checklist – Monitor and record if they can count to 20 without mistakes noting any they
make, ask them questions about their books and noting any difficulties.

3. In a paragraph, (3-5 sentences), explain how you will use the meaningful data from the
assessment to plan the next lesson.

Based on the data I collect I will be able to figure out if students need more practice counting. I
will also know which numbers are commonly skipped or forgotten. Keeping this in mind will let
me know what to focus on while I teach them to continue counting on and other methods of
counting.

4. Optionally, create or use reproducible rubrics for the assessment.
