Running head: WHAT I LEARNED FROM TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM

This spring 2019, I had technology in the classroom as an education class. It was very

beneficial to me and my future as a teacher in this generation filled with new teaching techniques

using technology, which I learned all about. In this course, we covered a variety of topics like

using pinterest, creating a linkedIn profile, and then projects like creating a virtual tour, lesson

plans, comics and a group webquest.

The individual projects and lessons we had were insightful, memorable and important. I

was able to create my own linkedin account, which has been something that I’ve wanted to do

but haven’t done before. I learned that it is an important resource for my future career, being able

to use it to follow people who are successful and already doing what I want to do in the future. I

can update it and share what I’ve accomplished, where I work and talk to potential employers.

Creating a lesson using a virtual google earth tour was so much fun. I remember doing an

assignment like it in High School, and it was very educational and memorable to me. I was glad

that I was able to learn how I could do it, and use the Utah Core Standards to guide the creation

of it. We each created our own website as well to place all our assignments on that we

completed, which was an amazing feat and important aspect to the class because we were

constantly updating it and adding our completed work to it, which was not only rewarding, but

taught me how I can do that for my future classroom to post worksheets, virtual tours, and

webquests that I create.

Along with many fun lessons we had about technology in the classroom and individual

projects, we had group projects that we worked on together and helped each other complete.

These included the Lesson Plan assignment as well as the WebQuest. With these projects we

were able to work as a team, each having specific parts we were each responsible for completing

and adding to the sites, which made it both effective and creative. We collaborated on a google

doc, and then brought everything together in the end, which taught me how important it is to not

only ask for help, but work together with other people and be open and receptive to their unique

perspectives and ideas which can expand my own and broaden my thinking.

In conclusion, I learned so many great lessons about using technology in the classroom as

a future perspective teacher and I loved this class. It was such a thrill to attend each week, learn a

lesson about the topic and then go hands on at the assignments. I am grateful for the classroom

website that I was able to create in this class, which I will model my own classroom website

when I become a teacher in the future, as well as use the webquest, lesson plan, and worksheets I

created to model after for lesson plans in the future.
