Screening scar-collagen inhibitors for aid in wound healing- Project synopsis:
-Possible scar-collagen antagonists were identified from scientific literature
-Scarring was stimulated by adding transforming growth factor (TGF-β1) to normal dermal
fibroblasts
-Effects of test compounds were screened in vitro by measuring amount of collagen
produced at the protein level in a fluorescent microplate assay and visualized by confocal
microscopy
PUBLICATION
Primary Research collected into peer reviewed scientific paper titled, “Determination of
anti-fibrotic effects of possible scar-collagen antagonists on TGF-β treated dermal
fibroblasts”. Paper published in 2017 NCUR Journal Proceedings.
