Title of Project: A Non Potable Problem
Title of Research Paper: A Non Potable Problem: Global Water Related Human Health

Synopsis of Research Paper:

My paper focused on this historical background of water quality improvement and how legislation has
helped. Then the paper went into waters harmful effects on women, children, and overall development in
third world countries, and finished with potential solutions.

Project Description:
For my project I decided to give a presentation on the problems that communities in developing countries
face every day while lacking clean drinking water, as well as an affordable solution through a
demonstration of how a Waves 4 Water Filter works. I finished with an obstacle course on the Hillier
Ignite Fitness Park and the winning team received water. The losing team did receive water eventually.

Relationship between Project and Paper:

My whole paper focused on the problems that the rest of the world faces when it comes to the availability
of clean water and my presentation informed my peers on this struggle. The paper also discussed solutions
in which one of the solutions was through installation of a water filter from the organization Waves 4
Water. I used this filter to show a demonstration and raise donations.

My background experience in the area:

Previously I had little experience. In previous years I would do little research projects on the global water
crisis and through this initial research I was attached to focusing on this study. I also have attended a
Waves 4 Water fundraiser and thought that it was a great way to give back to communities abroad.

Special things I’d like judges to consider and look for:

I would like the judges to consider that this research was outside of my usual comfort zone when it comes
to philanthropic study and that the water crisis is indeed one of the worlds largest causes of fatality. Many
people overlook how serious this issue really is.
