How to use this workbook

This workbook is intended to offer you concepts and simple exercises to give you new ways of thinking
and skills that will help you in life.

You may want to go sequentially, but it isn’t necessary. Life will show you what is a priority. Maybe
you’re already skilled at goal setting but haven’t mastered managing your beliefs and you decide to go
straight to Step 6. Maybe you have a major life challenge and need a few guiding steps, then you’d go
to Step 5. If you’re stuck or going through a major transition, then stepping back and doing a Personal
Inventory or Values Review will give you some clarity on what you do want.

Recommend Tips For Results.

1. Write things down in a way that is fun for you.

2. Share your goals and dreams only with people who will support you.

3. Find people who are your “role models” in the areas you want to grow.

4. Schedule small amounts of time regularly to create and manage your life.

Make it a priority- it is your life!

Creating Your Life
A Perspective to consider

Your beliefs establish the limits of what you can achieve. You define
the boundaries of what is possible through your beliefs and goals.

You can decide what to believe, it’s your choice, it’s your reality.

You may not be able to always control what happens to you but you can
choose your perspective and response.

You attract into you what you believe about yourself (law of attraction).

People can be messengers or mirrors of what you believe about yourself.

Setting goals, making choices and taking action are powerful forces of
creation and change.

Guiding Step 1
Set your space for your wisdom to be revealed

To create change, reach goals, or solve problems it is helpful to have your brain fully awake with all
your juices flowing. There are the right and left sides of the brain and each manages different things
and sometimes the energy isn’t flowing fully between the two.

I was in marketing in a past life and worked with engineers. We joked about them as left-brain nerds.
You know, always into the details, linear thinking, structured, non-emotional and analytical. They
just seemed to think differently than me. I felt I was more creative, thinking of the big picture, more
emotional. You might think of this as “right brain.” Ideally we all have the capacity for both types of
thinking. We feel & function best when both “sides” are connected and communicating. You know that
feeling when you’re in the flow? When you are at your peak performance-in the zone? That is when
energy is flowing optimally between the two brain hemispheres. I won’t get into the science here but
one thing is for certain… the more scientists learn about brain function, the more their findings are
showing that this whole brain state we’re discussing here is an optimal state for a highly performing
brain.

Below are ways that have worked for me as well as my clients. In involves what I call Setting Your
Sacred Space where your wisdom, ideas, and goals can be revealed. Remember the best way to do it is
to create and choose what works for you. It’s YOUR Sacred Space.

Remember life is a journey and change is a natural part of life. Allow yourself to change your mind,
try different things, and flow with life. What you set as a way to create a sacred space will change over
time. The key is to have a path that guides you to achieving your goals and dreams.

IDEAS TO SET UP YOUR SACRED SPACE

1. Set up a lovely space. I light a candle, put away my time manager, pile of work papers and set out
some beautiful paper or my journal to write. A clear space can help create a clear mind. I then close
my eyes and breathe until I sense a calm and peace within me. I know I’m calm when my chest feels
relaxed. When I’m stressed, I feel tightness. With practice, it now just takes me a few breaths.

2. Turn on your favorite Music. I love Mark Romero whose music is believed to
produce more balance between the left and right hemispheres. This state will allow your creativity to
flow.

3. Meditate. I’ve learned Transcendental Mediation (TM) and honestly it isn’t worth the cost. I’ve
found easy ways to meditate suggested in books or by using Google. Try it out. Don’t worry about
having no thoughts. It’s okay to think, just notice when your body feels relaxed.

4. Use Dance. I recently learned Nia Dancing. You can buy a DVD and do it at home for a few
minutes. Use any body movement that is fun for you. Swing those hips and get your heart beating. It’s
fun and just takes a few minutes!

5. Sit with ankles crossed and wrists crossed and palms together like a pretzel. Close your eyes and
Breath until you feel relaxed. Schools in New Zealand are using this with children to calm them down.
This is one I use just about anywhere to calm myself if I’m stressed. I have done it in meetings, waiting
in traffic, or before a test! I do keep my eyes open in a meeting or in traffic, but I feel more relaxed
when crossing the ankles and wrists. I may take a few minutes or if you are really stressed, it may take
longer. Continue as long as you need until you feel relaxed.

6. When my brain feels locked up, I go for a Walk in Nature, or just stick my head outside and breathe
some fresh air. Any Physical Activity can help stimulate the brain! Yoga stretches are a favorite of
mine.

7. Breathe. Most of us hold our breath or breath shallow. At first we need to “consciously” learn and
pay attention to breathing. Breathe in a count of 5 and breath out on a count of 5. Start with just a few
times and notice the heightened energy in your mind!

The best way to “set your sacred space” is what feels best and most natural for you. Explore and
discover how you can connect with yourself. This step is simple yet powerful and is what I use to
create Peak Brain Performance. My results show it too!

Remember this may take time and practice to get the hang of it. Believe me, it’s worth it to have this
tool to pull out when you need it!

Examples:
1. I used #1, # 2 and essential oils when I wrote my business plan for Your Beliefs Matter and the
process was joyful and flowed easily.
2. A client used #5 every time she wanted to have a cigarette and was able to calm down and kick the
habit. It’s been over 8 months and no cigarettes!
3. Another client used breathing just 5 minutes a day and it helped her to focus on her goals and get a
new job she loved!

Guiding Step 2
Review your personal inventory. your mindset.

This is an important exercise to create your life and who you want to be. When I left 20 years of
working in a computer company, I was lost. I didn’t know who I was or what I wanted. I literally felt
like I lost my identity as my life revolved around my work. I hear woman with children feel a similar
thing when their children leave home (empty nest syndrome…) What I did was to create a new life and
a new me! You don’t need to know all the answers, but begin to explore, imagine, and write things
down. Writing things down will be a key to capturing your journey, unleashing your creativity, and
measuring your progress and results.

The following Exercise will help to set a foundation and can give you more clarity. It is your personal
inventory.

Exercise #2
VALUES.
Describe what you value. Write down your first thoughts, no need to analyze yet. Just list them.
Afterwards, circle your top 5.

Examples: healthy lifestyle, honesty, giving, family, friends, working hard, vacations, spiritual growth,
laughter, community, etc.

List your values:

LIKES.
Think about what you enjoy, what gets you excited. Let go of what you actually do and just
imagine. Pretend there are no limits just for a moment. If you need to get into your sacred space to
get in the mood, try one out. List your likes below.

Examples: traveling, cultures, the arts, exercising, volunteering with children, going out dancing, walks
in nature, laughing, spiritual workshops, reading biographies, watching movies, etc.

List your likes:

DISLIKES
It is important to recognize what you don’t like. This awareness can help you to stop doing things
you don’t like, get help from someone who likes to do it or it can help you to set your priorities.

ASSETS.
Think about what you’re good at. What are your assets? This can include education, skills, and
family resources. What do you have that are resources for you in life.

Examples: I’m a positive and enthusiastic person, I am organized, I enjoy problem solving, I love
helping people, I have a marketing education and 25 years experience, I am a good public speaker, my
family supports me with love and I’m surrounded with friends, I am a good writer, I am great with
people, I have work experience and good references, I am healthy and have tons of energy.

List your assets:

LIABILITIES.
This is what holds you back or what limits you.

Examples: I’m burnt out on marketing and get stressed when I have to do it, I don’t ask for help when
I need it, I’m not good at details, I don’t have enough fun, I never find time to be in a relationship,
I don’t prioritize the big picture of my life enough and live life reacting too much to less important
things, etc.

CHOOSE YOUR MINDSET. Philosophy of Your Life

Setting aside time and thinking about what you want to believe about life is a wonderful way to create
it. I love the quote “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” This is a mindset, a philosophy,
and a belief. This will set the potential to what you can achieve. Another one of my favorite popular
quotes is “You can look at the glass as half empty or half full.” This is a philosophy of life and what I
aspire to be in all situations. I want to look at the positive side of things. This doesn’t mean I’m not
sad or don’t get emotional and upset at times, but I will pull out one of my “sacred space tools” calm
myself down and then start thinking about how I want to respond, what I can learn from this situation
and how I choose to move forward. Brainstorm Your List. Remember you’re always evolving and
changing and so will your list!

Examples of My Philosophy of Life:

* I am a spiritual person having a human experience and life is providing me ways to

grow, experience my emotions, express my creativity, and master life skills
* The most powerful force in the universe is LOVE
* We are all connected and each individual is important
* I attract into myself that what I believe about myself
* I treat others how I want to be treated
* I feel everyone is doing the best they can with their circumstances
* Everything has meaning and purpose

Guiding Step 3
Creating who you want to be and your ideal day
I think a major part of the human experience is learning how to have a life that is driven from the inside
out. What do I mean? Most of us have programs running in our head that we got from our parents
and the environment we grew up in. They just run on autopilot. Think of them as belief programs such
as “I’m not very smart” This program is held in your subconscious mind and runs that tape recording
over and over and is printing it out in your life. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Right? We need to
have a big download of programs before the age of six to survive. We get our parent’s good beliefs and
limiting beliefs most during this early stage in our lives. We haven’t yet developed the filters to decide
for ourselves yet. We just get loaded up with information similar to loading info into a computer…

The exciting news is now you know and now you can choose your beliefs. You get to choose your
beliefs about yourself and your life.

This next exercise continues the process of self discovery and self-empowerment. Let’s start choosing.

WHAT KIND OF PERSON WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE

Lets Imagine and Create It

Think about what type of person you would like to be. If you need inspiration, think and describe
someone you admire. What are they like? How do they behave? What do you like about them? If you
find that you are beating yourself up or thinking of the negative that is great information. Write those
thoughts down and we’ll use them later. That is your subconscious beliefs popping up!

Examples: I’m thinking about Louis Hay, who I admire because she is: doing the right thing, cares
about people, has an amazingly positive attitude, works hard and doesn’t give up, is youthful at 81
years and cares about people. Now I’m thinking about Joan of Arch, a role model of mine and she
fights for her beliefs, she is courageous, has a strong faith, loved her people and country, lived a
spiritual life and lived with integrity. Okay one more: Mother Teresa saw only love in people, was
compassionate and devoted to God and her faith.

IMAGINE & CREATE YOUR TYPICAL IDEAL DAY

What would your ideal typical day look like? What would you be doing?
What type of people would
you be around? What would you eat?
What schedule would you have? What would you do in your
free time? Include as many senses that you’d like to describe your day. How it feels to you, what do
you hear and say, even what smells you experience, and things you taste.

Imagine it. And if you’re stuck, think about somebody you know and their life. Describe it. Set aside
what you think is possible and just pretend.

Example: I see myself waking up at 9am without an alarm, smiling and energized. I jump out of bed
and put on my shoes, make a lovely tea, and walk 2 miles with my sweet little dog. I eat fruit and
granola for breakfast and drink 2-3 glasses of water before going off to my job where I help people. I
laugh and joke around with the people I work with. I have the best boss ever! I see myself surrounded
by positive people who volunteer to make a difference in the world. They don’t just talk about it, but
do it. I come home to my loving partner and we cook dinner together and it’s a healthy meal with
many vegetables by about 6pm. We then watch a movie together or just read our books. I love to work
out at the gym and get over there at 7:30pm. I feel relaxed and confident all day. It’s so easy for me to
sleep and I drift away easily at about 10pm. I notice the rain; the flowerings smell each day and tell
those I care about that I love them. I love hearing “I love you too!”

Guiding Step 4
CREATE YOUR GOALS AND WHAT IS WORTH WANTING
Now we are getting more specific. Goal setting has been a part of my life since I took a weekend
workshop when I was 14 years old. It helped me to focus my energy to be able to take action and then
measure my progress and results. I always write them down. Goals are also one point in time. I have
goals that I have achieved and I check them off the list. I have other goals that changed into different
goals. I have goals that I don’t complete because I decided I didn’t want them bad enough to put the
effort into getting them.

Goal setting is a skill that can benefit everyone! Some of us, however, never learned it or maybe we
are rusty, or maybe we just don’t set aside the time to do it. This is one of the most important skills in
creating a life you love and why I have it in the Love Your Life Mastery Series.

Let’s review what a goal actually is. It is an intended destination, a desired result, or a focused
intention. Getting what you want is like mapping out a desired result. Add all of them up and that is
your life!

I set goals for everything! I recently set a goal to see something beautiful in every person I
encountered. I set a goal to travel internationally teaching successful workshops. I set a very specific
goal on finding a loving, spiritual, and sexy man who is my soul mate. I set a goal to create a Belief and
Life Mastery Workbook that rocks. Here are some tips on effective goal setting.

Qualities of a Goal:
* Positive
* Emotional-Juicy
* Specific
* Optional- when you’d like to achieve it by

Examples:
I want a job I love and make enough money to live a comfortable life by 2012
I would like to be in a relationship (no timing)
I would like to be patient with my family
I would like to live a life filled with meaning, purpose, and service
I ‘d like to be healthy, trim, and full of energy by early 2012

DECIDING WHAT IS WORTH WANTING

To reach a goal, it is very helpful to determine why we want it in the first place. It is helpful to
determine whether we are we willing to take action, prioritize it, and change our schedule to fit
it in. Often we add goals onto our plate but take nothing off. You know what happens? We get
stressed, feel like we failed, and might just give up goal setting all together.

Asking some questions will flush out whether we really want it bad enough in this moment to
put it up on the priority list. I often put goals aside for a while and just focus on one or two at a
time. This allows me to put energy into it them, adjust them, and complete them!

Take a goal and ask yourself these questions.

Questions to Prioritize Goals:

1. Why do I want the goal?

2. What do I need to do to achieve it?
3. If I achieve the goal, what consequences will it have?
4. Do you still want the goal?

Goal: I would like to live a life filled with meaning, purpose, and service

1. Why I want this goal - I’m tired of living my life doing things that don’t make me feel good and don’t
seem to matter in the world. I want to be helping others. I’m tired of being in a job I don’t enjoy and
drains my energy. I want to be energized and happy at work and with my family and friends. I want
to have passions and know why I’m here on this planet. I think I have gifts to offer and what to have
more clarity.

2. What do I need to achieve this? I might need to quit my job. Get some coaching or tools to identify
what I do want. I’ll need to cut down my expenses to make the transition. I’ll need to get my partner
to support me in doing this. He may need to change his spending too to make this work. I’ll need to
invest in some form of education or training.

3. If I achieve the goal, what consequences will it have? I’ll be happier! I may need to let go of some nega-
tive friends or maybe my partner will not help me. I may need to take a different job to have money
come in until I have a new meaningful job.

4. Still want the goal? Yes! I must change my life and the positives are so much greater! I can work
through the challenges.

Guiding Step 5
CHOOSE YOUR BELIEFS AND DECLARE IT!
The beliefs you hold are the keys to your life. Our life, who we are and what we do is a reflection of
our beliefs. Our beliefs create the limits on what we can achieve. We get hand me down beliefs from
our parents, from people close to us, from our society, and from life experiences, but now you get to
choose them. You can choose to believe anything you want. Think about that. You get to decide what
to believe about everything.

There are two places in your mind where beliefs are running. One is consciously and the other is
subconsciously. It’s important to become aware of your beliefs and decide what you’d like to change.
Once you become aware and practice identifying them through your thoughts, words, and behaviors
you can change them! And look into PSYCH-K as an effective tool that works even faster.

Start by Raising your level of consciousness-your awareness. You can identify what the subconscious
mind believes because it’s printing it out in your life

WAYS TO CONSIOUSLY IDENTIFY SUBCONSIOUS BELIEFS

1. Your Repetitive Thoughts

Beliefs shows up as voice in your head that isn’t the loving and accepting voice. It’s the one that says
things like - “You’ve done it again - you forgot your list” or “ I’ve never been smart anyway so no
wonder it didn’t work out” or “I’ve tried to lose weight before and it never works”

These reflect beliefs, here is what is under the surface:

* I’ve done it again and forgot my list. Belief: I don’t learn and I’m a forgetful person
* I’ve never been smart - no wonder it doesn’t work out. Belief: I’m not smart and there for I don’t get
what I want.
* I’ve tried to lose weight before and never works. Belief: I am a failure
Exercise #8

2. Your Repetitive Words

This is the same as the thoughts but you say them!

Exercise #9
List limiting words you use - ask someone you know to help you and identify the limiting belief

3. Your Behaviors and Habits

The things you do over and over reflect your beliefs. The belief is the cause of the habit. You do the
behavior because a belief drives you to do it. It happens automatically.

Exercise #10
Think about your behaviors and habits and the beliefs behind them.

Changing Subconscious Beliefs

I recommend PSYCH-K as the quickest and easiest way that you can identify and change the
subconscious mind and change your belief programs running on autopilot. It is a proven process used
for over twenty years and you can learn it in a 2-Day Workshop.

I did and it changed my life. PSYCH-K put me in control of my subconscious mind! While processes
such as affirmations, visualization, positive thinking, and prayer are wonderful, they may not
create change at the subconscious level or it takes a lot of effort and time to do it. You can change a
subconscious belief with PSYCH-K in about 10 minutes. Then it’s done.

4. Your Life Results and Experiences

Our life shows us our beliefs and prints them out automatically. So if you aren’t achieving your

goals in life then is likely your limiting subconscious beliefs. Take a look at your life and your
experiences. Look at the areas you want to change.

Exercise #11

Creating Your Beliefs

Taking your goals, desires, and intentions and turning them into a short compelling statement can add
clarity and help you accomplish what you want. It is similar to what you may think with affirmations.
Putting it down in writing is focused energy. Making it concise is energy. Sharing it is energy. Singing
it out loud is energy! You may still want to take action - Step #7, but getting your intention into a Belief
Declaration creates great momentum!

The most important thing is that you have made a choice. You are choosing to create your own life,
your own belief programs that will shape your life!

Helpful tips to create YOUR Belief Declaration:

1. Make it positive: describe what you want positively

2. Make it yours: use first person “I” or “My” or “Me”

3. Make it right now: use present tense: “am”
”do” “create

avoid: I will, I want to, I should, or any future tense words

4. Make it emotional and juicy: use words that are compelling and exciting to you

Guiding Step 6
transforming life’s challenges into positive
outcomes
A big part of living and the human experience is dealing with life’s challenges. Challenges come in
every aspect of our human experience - relationships, health, money, self-esteem, body image, losing
weight, what job we’d like to pursue, how to balance priorities, get out of debt, and the list goes on.

In working in the corporate world for 20 years and in my education, I learned to master the art of
problem solving related to commerce, money, and business relationships. The last 6 years, I’ve been
blessed to get to help hundreds of people with a variety of challenges. This has ranged from life
threatening diseases, changing careers, relationships with partners, kids, family, to lack of self worth,
spiritual connection, and a wide variety of emotional challenges.

I love to take complex thoughts and processes and simplify them. What I’ve discovered is that this
produces even better results.

Transforming life’s challenges into positive outcomes involves perspective, focused intention and
action. Dealing with challenges is a wonderful way to grow. It gives us an opportunity to decide
who we want to be and follow up with action. Challenges are full of life lessons and messages. Other
people are great mirrors to show us our own challenges. They especially reflect our beliefs about
ourselves.

Perspective: How would you like to look at the world? What glasses do you want to see yourself,
situations and people through? This is the example I used earlier - do you see the glass as half empty
or half full? We often think we’re positive but if we really observe ourselves, we vary...sometimes we
do, sometimes we don’t. It depends upon the situation.

Example of a Perspective: I recently had a neighbor who was an angry person, never said hello and
had parked his huge blue Cadillac with a bright blue tarp in front of my house for several months.
Since I use my home as a place for clients, I wanted it moved. I talked with him and it created a
major conflict. At first I was angry and then I realized this situation was a blessing, offering me an
opportunity to grow! I changed my perspective and realized that a goal of mine in life is to have
compassion and love for everyone, and see them as doing the best they can given their circumstances.

I spent the next three weeks thinking about it, deciding what to do and took action. I keep looking for
the life lessons. I learned that I had drawn conclusions because he was black. I had a level of prejudice
in me - a belief. This I wanted to change! Next, I realized that anger doesn’t solve anything so I found
ways to love him. They had moved from New York and I discovered that it was probably a tough
adjustment being the only black person in our neighborhood and I’m sure it wasn’t easy. I certainly
didn’t help by not saying hello and welcoming them at first but it’s never too late! I gave him a letter
on rainbow paper sharing my feelings and gave him and his wife a $10 Starbucks Gift Certificate. I

wanted to be a loving neighbor and welcome them to the neighborhood. To make a long story short,
by diving in to this challenge I learned so much about myself, decided what I wanted to change about
myself, and did it! I took action that represented the new me! I focused more on my growth than him
moving his car. I found peace within myself. I was proud of myself for looking deeply within me and
being honest about my limitations. I took action and expanded to a higher level as a person. I believe
he felt the difference in me - my compassion radiated from me. He moved the car but I rejoiced more
in how I changed!

Summary of My Perspective and Steps I Took:

- I chose my perspective and saw this challenge as a way to grow
- I thought deeply about what was going on with my thoughts and beliefs
- I had an ah-ha moment with insights and choose how to respond
- I took action, then more action until I learned my lessons and internalized them
- I used the PSYCH-K process to change my subconscious beliefs

Three Ways To Approach and Solve Challenges

By going through this thinking you are already starting the process of achieving what you want.
Energy is energy. Focused energy is what creates change and results!

FLIP IT: Turn A Negative Into A Positive Expected Outcome

Start by taking something you don’t want and turn it into what you do want. Or think about it in this
way-you have something that is negative, now turn it into something that is positive. You’ll discover
that many beliefs can be changed. This creates the potential for it to occur. Remember beliefs set the
limits to what you can achieve.

Examples:
Problem: I don’t know what I want in life
Positive Outcome: I do know what I want
Problem: I am always struggling with my weight
Positive Outcome: I am at peace with my weight

By doing this, you have changed the energy from reinforcing the negative to transformation and
change! You also will be setting a goal and a belief about what you want.

TWEAK IT: Look At Problem From a Different Viewpoint or Perspective

Think about what the problem might be teaching you. What life lessons are coming up in this
situation? Or if I keep getting the same problem, what might I be gaining from it.
People and situations are drawn to us over and over until we learn the lesson. They are mirrors of us
in many ways. They reflect back what we think about ourselves. When you discover the lesson and
internalize it by your actions, the problem can go away!

Example:
Problem: I don’t have enough time for myself. I’m busy taking care of others.
New Perspective: I don’t have time for myself because I put other people first. I’ve been living my life
for others thinking it’s the right thing to do, but by taking care of myself I am more able to help others.

Exercise #14
Write Down A Problem and Tweak IT:

TOSS IT: Can’t Control it, Not That Important- Just Let It Go

Sometimes we just can’t control the situation or others. It’s good to recognize, accept it and let it go.
Or maybe it’s just too much effort to create a change and not a priority. That is when we let it go. Cross
it off your To-Do List and move on. See how liberating this can be!

Examples:
Problem: I’ve got 10lbs. of extra weight I’d like to loose
Toss It: To loose that extra weight will take a change in eating and exercise but right now I have other
priorities so I’m going to let it go for now and love and accept myself just as I am!
Problem: My partner is messy
Toss It: I really can’t change anyone. I’ve talked with them and they don’t want to change, there isn’t
much more I can do and it’s just not that important. I’ll let it go!

Guiding Step 7
TAKE ACTION, GET FEEDBACK, AND ADJUST YOUR
ACTIONS
All of the first 6 Steps create energy and focus which are important to producing results in creating
your life, achieving goals, and solving life’s problems. Sometimes this is enough but often we need to
put more energy towards it. This can accelerate your progress and results!

We’ve all heard the term “baby steps”. I think this sums it up as the final guiding step to creating your
life. Just move your feet, decide a simple action step to keep the momentum going. I have seen the
smallest actions change someone’s life, including mine.

Baby Step Story: I decided to just walk down the street to get the yoga schedule and take just 1 class.
It led to two classes a week, then three and then four. It became the joy of my life, helped me heal my
body from many injuries and loose weight. I am still doing it after twelve years!

There are some guidelines that can help you define your baby steps to big results.

Guidelines for Effective Action Steps:

1. Make your action specific

2. Put a timeframe when you’ll complete it
2. Make it reasonable-take baby steps
3. Make it measurable
4. Write it down and check it off the list when done!
5. Determine your next baby step
